THE COLLEGE
The Fine Arts and Design College is considered to be one of most dynamic Colleges at the AUE. It consists of four important programs that are unique and very technical. The College of Fine Arts and Design at AUE provides its students a wide variety of educational and career opportunities, and encourages creative minds, in order for the students to be able to pursue professional careers in the industry. Students learn the theory as well as acquire practical experience, thus preparing them for challenging careers in any of the following programs: Fashion Design Graphic Design Interior Design Digital Animation

AIMS
The programs of CFAD are designed to encourage students to research, conceptualize, create, and critique their own work. This challenging process is designed to ensure that students understand how to present professional work in a presentation form. These skills are required by the professional industry around the world. Working in both 2 and 3 dimensional designs, as well representing traditional and modern medias, students will be encouraged to investigate, experiment and research in order to produce work that represents what they learned, using their theoretical background and technical skills.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Graphic Design
Graphic Design, being one of the foremost means of communication today, allows students to develop personal visual responses that will stand out from the crowd. With this course students will have the opportunity to create ground breaking designs to meet a variety of graphic needs including advertising, packaging, print media, branding and web production. Aims
Good Design is good business! Graphic Design at AUE offers students the chance to study a diverse range of disciplines including packaging, branding, advertising and publishing in order to ensure the most up-todate training in professional design. At AUE we encourage learners to develop technical, creative and critical thinking skills that are essential to succeed in todays demanding design industry. Students will be encouraged to develop ideas through experimentation and investigation, with the aim of challenging them to explore the broadest possibilities when responding to design briefs. Our inspirational lectures, workshops, presentations and tutorial support are designed to give students the best possible introduction to a career in design across a wide range of media.

How is it Taught?
There is a strong focus on studio-based practice taught by dedicated staff and design professionals. The course is divided into a series of subject units that cover important themes across the field of graphic design. Group and individual tutorials, seminars and critiques will develop learners confidence and articulate their thoughts in order to discuss ideas with context and clarity.

DIGITAL ANIMATION

DIGITAL ANIMATION
Have you always wanted to know behind-the-scenes secrets of Pixar and Freej? This program offers aspiring animators the opportunity to create their own movie magic by fusing cinematic storytelling with digital technology and finding their own creative voice with close guidance and encouragement from experienced faculty and guest speakers.

Our digital design and drawing studios are fully equipped to allow learners to develop 2D & 3D work through both traditional and modern means. Students have access to a range of state-of-the art digital design programs and facilities.

The Course
This course is designed to teach students everything they need to know about animation principles, current techniques and industry standards. Students will be primed to make their mark in this exciting field, producing work in professional, creative and stimulating environments. Students will benefit from direct contact with highly experienced animation artists and tutorial staff and will be encouraged to develop skills across traditional and modern animation disciplines including subjects such as figure drawing, contextual studies and the handling of state-of-the-art digital programs.

How is it Taught?
Our series of lectures, workshops, historical and studio based practicum is designed to ensure students develop skills, understanding and creativity over a period of time in order to ensure growth and capability. Students will complete a series of core and elective subjects as well as a period of professional practice at a working studio, an experience that is essential to the development of mature professional designers.

FASHION DESIGN

FASHION DESIGN
From the sophisticated design studios, as well as being inspired by International Fashion leaders in Paris, London, Milan, and New York, AUE young designers will find that the Fashion Design program offers the ideal platform towards achieving international fashion fame. AUE provides a secure and stimulating environment, where students learn professional techniques, as well as fashion theories. These are balanced with practice by utilizing the latest fashion design computer programs and laboratories to create garments for the students to compete in local and international fashion shows. Students will learn all the aspects of the fashion industry, including: design, marketing, merchandising, manufacturing, draping, textiles, retailing, and the business of fashion.

Facilities
Large design studios, which include dress forms, sewing machines, garment cutting tables, as well as apparel construction rooms, and textile labs. We also provide state-of-the-art Computer labs using the latest Fashion Design computer programs, and printing facilities, as well as an extensive library with the latest fashion and textile books, and resources. All these facilities are available for students on the premises to use in a professional and engaging learning environment.

The Course
Fashion Design at AUE offers a diverse range of disciplines including: fashion design and merchandising, fashion illustration, pattern making, garment construction, textiles, draping, history of costume, and the business of fashion, in order to ensure that students receive the most up to date learning skills, and techniques in a professional accredited academic fashion design program. Here at AUE we encourage students to develop technical, creative and critical thinking skills that are essential to success in todays competitive fashion design industry. You will be challenged to develop your ideas through experimentation and research, increasing the awareness and knowledge of design techniques, industrial production methods, keeping in mind the process of preparation of students for the challenging and competitive careers in the fashion locally, and internationally.

How is it Taught?
By using a balanced mix between theory and practice there is a strong focus on studio-based practices taught by professionals in the field, skilled faculty, and design professionals. The course is divided into a series of subject units that cover important topics, as well as seminars, slide show presentations and hands-on projects. The students go on field trips to experience the real world of fashion and understand the fashion industry and production methods.

(12 Courses/51 Credit Hours) These courses and the exposure they offer are the core subjects required for a major in fashion design. This developed fashion design program ensures that the students become professionals, and specialized in this field. Here at AUE we use a balance between theory and practice. Students will learn how to develop their ideas, present them, research the methods of making, which are available in the industry, and use the appropriate techniques to approach problem-solving, whether through draping, or pattern making, and actually make the final garments or products. Students in this program will develop the philosophy, which combines knowledge through the balance of theory with practice. INTERIOR DESIGN

INTERIOR DESIGN
The population explosion has led to shrinkage in living space. But the need to live comfortably with style has not diminished. Dream homes and utopian work spaces are the product of effort and inspiration. Students will be guided through the design process and be encouraged to develop an individual flair when creating ideal spaces for home or work. Aims
Working under the direction of experienced architects, engineers and tutors, students will work towards projects in both commercial and residential interiors, developing a sense of how people function in and interact with their surroundings. Students will develop a range of live projects with themes including leisure and public interior spaces as well as design for the home with a strong focus on developing a career through ones unique approach to interior design.

The primary objective of the interior design courses in AUE is to equip the learners with creative awareness, attitude, imagination and technical knowledge required for this profession. The program aims to teach students how to plan and analyze design factors. The coursework will include design, analysis, construction and job administration. Students will be expected to conduct a wide range of research and conduct on-site examination of areas selected for project work.
