Philosophy
I believe that student-center teaching supports learning that is both purposeful and enduring. It is my responsibility to know my students, what kinds of background knowledge and experiences they bring into class, and what they want to accomplish. By taking on this responsibility, I can modify a lesson that accommodates to their needs and yet make space for students to do self discoveries. I believe that by assessing where my students are in regards to the learning goals, I can scaffold students to build connections between their background knowledge and the new understandings they seek to create.
