Terremoto de magnitud 8,2 sacude Chile

(CNN Espaol) - Un sismo de magnitud 8,2 sacudi Chile este martes en la noche, segn reportes del Servicio Geolgico de Estados Unidos (USGS, por sus siglas en ingls). El epicentro estuvo ubicado a 10 kilmetros de profundidad, a 99 kilmetros al noroeste de Iquique y a 449 kilmetros al suroeste de la Paz, Bolivia. Olas de tsunami de hasta 1.80 metros se reportaron cerca de la costa de Pisagua y de hasta 2.13 metros en Iquique, segn el Centro de Alertas de Tsunamis, segn el Centro de Alerta de Tsunamis del Pacfico de la Administracin Nacional Ocenica y Atmosfrica de EE.UU. Adems, Bachelet agradeci los contactos desde Argentina y Brasil para ofrecer ayuda tras el terremoto. El Centro Sismolgico Nacional de la Universidad de Chile registr el terremoto en 7,9 grados y luego lo ajust a 8,2 grados. El sismo ocurri alrededor de las 8:46 p.m. hora local. Se han registrado alrededor de 20 rplicas de entre 5.2 y 6.2 grados, segn USGS. La Oficina Nacional de Emergencia de Chile (Onemi) confirma la evacuacin preventiva en los territorios del borde costero del pas, inform CNN Chile. Momentos despus del sismo, autoridades de Estados Unidos activaron una alerta de tsunami para Chile, Per y Ecuador. Inicialmente hubo aviso para que Colombia, Panam y Costa Rica tambin estuvieran prevenidos ante un posible tsunami. Luego se cancel en todos los pases salvo Chile y Per.
