In this report I will choose five interactive mediums (including mine) and I will be comparing or contrasting all of them

one by one. I will also be discussing what were the historical inspirations for each and every one of them and also will be referencing everything in the end of this essay.

The ambassadors (1533) by Hans Holbein the younger. In this painting the two figures represent important characters at that time, on the left is Jean De Dinteville and on the other side George De Selve. As one can see the background and middle ground are quite traditional regarding painting, while the foreground isnt since there is a distorted figure on the lower center of the painting.

As one can see the distorted figure is not noticeable at the first sight of the eye since it blends with the floor, but once you start examining the painting you see that there is actually a distorted skull. The trick to see the skull at its original proportion is to look from a specific side of the painting which is from the right side of the viewer. I compare this painting with the Oculus Rift which is a virtual reality glass. This painting has a very similar concept with this product since the concept of this product is aimed for the point of view of the player using it. The point of view of the player does affect how the game is being played. This is an example of the Oculus Rift. Also both the Oculus Rift and The Ambassadors have similar elements which are the: Perspective Point of view Illusion

The aim of this product is also to make the viewer is to make him feel like he is inside the game. The Oculus Rift is not only based for games but also for other special purposes such as flight simulation trainings too. The oculus rift is a new revolution of how people interact with games, it was created in 2012 by Oculus VR. The Oculus rift is known for its full functionality which is the full body interactivity which is consists of a whole set of adapters which works to make the body work with the game itself, these are some images of the products.

I compare the oculus rift with the game Assassins Creed 2 because of their different type of interface with each other. They both are different in their way but still have something similar, the Oculus rift paired with omnidirectional treadmill similarity is that both mediums are inspired by a historical medium that occurred many years ago; The Oculus rift which in my opinion it resembles part of The Ambassadors and Assassins Creed 2 which was inspired by the Italian Renaissance. Both give you the feel that you are part of the medium one because it is a virtual reality product and the other because it is a Historical Fiction Action Adventure which has important characters of history such as Leonardo Da Vinci. Although there is a difference between these

two mediums is that the approach to the interactivity is totally different because the Oculus Rift requires the users eyes to explore, while the game of Assassins Creed 2 requires only the hands to explore the area within the game.

The Assassins Creed 2 is a chapter of a series of games regarding Historical Fiction Action Adventure, various parts of these chapters had occurred in the Italian Renaissance. In one of the researched interview that I found on YouTube, I found out that the game Assassins Creed 2 was actually inspired by the Italian Renaissance because the director of the game felt that that particular moment in history was so important that it had to be part of the game. We picked the Italian Renaissance because we felt I was one of the most fascinating moment in history. (Patrice Desilets, 2009)

As it is known Roman Art/Movement is inspired by the Greek Art/Movement, so because of this I chose to compare Assassins Creed 2 with the game God of War. As a negative comparison of both games, they have different type of environment which means that God of War has a much harsher environment whilst Assassins Creed 2 has a much more ordinary one. But still at the same time both have the same type of buildings due that one uses roman art. As I said before Roman art is a successor of the Greek Art. Another important fact that I would like to point out is that both these games have two important Movements which makes them as good as they are, these movements are:

Another feature is that both games use important historical characters which are Leonardo Da Vinci and the King of Olympus Zeus.

The God of War is a series of games based on Greek Mythology. The style of the God of War has the same one that is used in the Greek movements for example the definition of the figure, architecture, creatures which used to have their own legends, such as; Medusa (a beautiful woman that was cursed by a god because of her beauty) Zeus (the mighty king of Olympus and the god of the thunder) Hydra (a terrible three headed creature that lives in the sea)

I chose to compare this game with my personal project the Space Invaders because of the element of symbolism, by this I mean for example when you see an object or a person and automatically your mind

does believe that it represents something. An example by this is the creature of a woman with snakes on her head (instead of hair), automatically a person will realize that this creature is Medusa. The snakes on her head makes everyone realize that the creature is known as one specific name.

A personal project that I am including is the game Space Invaders, in this game symbolism is based on what is good and what is not. The style of the aliens that I used in the game represent Evil while the

style in the spaceship represents Good. This is an example of pixel art of a spaceship I created and resembled another ship that was shown in a movie called Star Wars'.

Pixel art is an image created by a raster image which contains pixels in the edges and as colors. The whole concept of pixel art in my project is to show that the simpler the arts are the chances of imagination there is for the viewer. This is a preview of the game I created.
