Montage
Objective: Date:
Sucessfully blending two photos together. 2-15-14

Top thing learned:

Joel Judkins COMM 130

How to place and blend photos together.

Instructor and Course: Process:

I started by find two images from stock photos/ I found two that I thought went well together. I just kept searching for ones that would look like two girls who had gotten older and achieved their dreams. I made several layers. I also placed the photos by using the black arrow and showing transform tools. I then took the paint brush and blended to the best of my abilities. I also tried putting another photo in but it looked funny. I then put a darker blue filter on their and toned it down as much as possible. Let me be real, I didnt want to put

Logos
Objective: Date:
2-22-14 Create logos that are pleasing to people

I learned to be patient and be willing to change designs.

Instructor and Course: Process:

I tried to think about would would be appealing to a 20 something year old girl like myself. I am drawn to pretty things. So, I tried my best to create pretty things. In the first logo, I used the paintbrush tool and drew the word Prism until I thought it looked like a trendy, 20-something year old would think its pretty. I then messed around with the text making sure that I put it, not too close, but not too far. Then, it dawned on me to have a little, tiny triangle that would make it more interesting and make the dot on the i. I then got to work on my second logo. I really liked the idea of playing around with several triangles within a design. I made a prism out of a ton of little triangles, but Bro. Judkins encouraged me to create a P with those triangles. So I did. Then I colored them indigo. The bottom logo too the most patience. I started by picking my color for lines, as that seemed the easiest. I then used the pen tool and drew every little line within that triangle. I really liked the way it turned out, although it did take a lot of patience. I then downloaded a few fonts that seemed pretty for cosmetics.

Letterhead
Objective: Date:
3-1-14 Impress future employers with my letterhead and business card.

Top thing learned:

I I learned that fonts really make a difference on these kind of things.

Instructor and Course:

Joel Judkins COMM 130

Process:

I started by creating some cool shapes and stuff in Adobe Illustrator. I worked with different colors and downloaded fonts. I then transferred it into InDesign. I then messed with colors on both this letter head and the business card. I tried to make them very similary and girl-y and cute. I try to keep things professional, but I really am into pink and classy things. This is why my business card and letterhead look like this.

Brochure
Objective: Date:
Create a pleasing and successful brochure for your consumers. 3-29-14

Top thing learned:

I learned how to sucessful print and make changes to a two sided document, in order for it to be pleasing to the eye.

Instructor and Course:

Joel Judkins COMM 130

Process:

I started by making a logo in Illustrator tracing a paper bag. I then transferred it to photoshop so that I could successfully clip it, to no background. I then opened InDesign and began my layout. I decided that I wanted more than just one fold, which proved to be trickier than it looks. (My folding was terrible later on.) I then created my body text in microsoft word and started laying out boxes where I would like text. I then started downloading fonts that look kind of family based, or appealing. Then, I had a thought of not using just a white background, but that yellow would be cool for an organic market. I then searched the web, looking for cool pictures that would print well. That proved difficult, as I had to try and find really large based pixelated pictures to make them look clear. I then started on my text wrapped apple which was actually pretty easy, except I almost forgot part of my body copy below it. I then readjusted things to make it look how it does now. I printed several times,

and this is what I got.

Flier
Objective:
The message I am trying to convey is that this will be an interesting and beneficial conference for all graduating seniors.

Process:

The process I used was pretty silly. In all reality, I didnt go off my sketches that I started with. I went into InDesign and sort of acted upon what I felt looked good. I eventually just ended up changing my text and things around until I liked the layout. I then tried to make sure that there was enough white space so it wouldnt drive people crazy when they looked at my project. I also tried to make the organization make sense. The flow was really important to me as you follow the pattern of text first starting on the right side, going to the left, and then gradually making its way back to the left. I also really played up black and different shades of gray for contrast. I made my pictures opacity much less as well.

Event Ad
Objective: Date:
2-1-14 This was a project using Microsoft word. I was asked to make up a charity and make a pleasing ad.

Top thing learned:

I used a scanner to scan a high quality picture instead of using a camera or digital file already on my computer.

Instructor and Course:

Joel Judkins COMM 130

Process:

I started by scanning my images in the library. I then placed them on a microsoft word document. I deleted the background and then after getting critiqued about my design, decided to make a scan image less of the focus. I found that cute picture of the model holding the dog. I then took the dog with shoe photo that I had scanned and deleted the rest of the photo. I still dont know if I like him, but hell have to do. I decided that the fonts I used reminded me of a magazine, which I liked. I then inserted bright pink dots, only to decided to make the whole thing pink and the dots white. I rearranged so my text would be aligned and not too overwhelming.

Imaging
Objective: Date:
2-8-14 This is a project using photoshop to make some type of design on a photo. I only used photoshop.

Top thing learned:

I learned how to make an actual document, instead of just editing pictures in photoshop.

Instructor and Course:

Joel Judkins COMM 130

Process:

I started by taking a picture of my friends little brother sledding. I then watched all of the tutorials that were on the page. I then edited the picture. I then put that it should be on a new page in order to do correct designing. I used various rectangles to make that kind of cool looking boy box pattern in the background. I added text, which was a quote from Dieter F. Ucthdorf. I think continued to tweek the colors so it would be true monochromatic indigos.
