SONG JUSTIFICATION

First and foremost, the rationale of creating this song named Good Habits is because it attracts pupils to learn the new things in different ways. From the aspects of pedagogical principles that I have learnt before, the cultural element should be taken into consideration. Therefore, I have put the cultural element in this song. The reason is, the song is culturally accepted for every pupil in Malaysian classrooms. This is because of the theme of the song that highlights the importance of keep healthy is culturally practised by the society. Since the song related to good habits which can be interpreted as good culture, the pupils will get interested to learn about the song. Besides, this song is appropriate to be taught in primary school because its suitability in term of content. The rationale of creating this song is because the content of the song can be interpreted by the selection of words in the lyrics and the meaningful key words. The pupils will able to understand the lyric easily and sing along without any hesitation because of the lyric used simple words, sentences and mostly repeat the key words. Thus, the pupils can memorize the lines and also what is the song all about with the repetition lines. It is useful for using this method because it will develop the pupils multiple intelligences and encourage the physical movement. Since the song also related to the syllabus in Year 3 which is in Unit 2 entitled Being Healthy, the pupils were already some idea on what they have to learn about this song. Also, the song also is also a renovated version of the song named London Bridge is Falling Down. Therefore, the pupils easily follow the song since they are already knew the London version song. Other than that, the pupils will understand the lyric exactly like the meaning given because of using simple key words and the lyric is straightforwardly described. Then, the clear meanings of the song also make the pupils to practice the target language easily. In term of interest, this song apparently is sung to attract the childrens attention with the catchy and interesting lyrics. The words chosen seem to magnetize the pupils focus on learning the target language. The song also motivates pupils to learn the language where the interest has to go with motivation. Pupils will have high interest and receptivity on this song because the benefits come when the pupils able to express their love feeling through song. Since the song is taught by using the action song method, it will attract pupils interest to learn because it involves actions. The pupils will not easily bore because the song make the pupils vibrate in the classroom and it will encourage physical movement.

Since the song is created based on the importance of keep healthy, so it is relevant for pupils to sing this song. The appropriateness comes when the song is integrated with the value of love to themselves by keeping healthy. In order to impart the importance of good values for the wholesome development of individuals, therefore, pupils will develop the value into their life and this is appropriate for building a good character in pupils themselves. The song taught the pupils to keep them healthy and clean and it is a good value to teach to the When it comes to proficiency level, the teacher should consider this aspect by searching the right song for different learning capabilities pupils. Then, this song is appropriate for pupils which in intermediate level of English proficiency or above. Besides, as intermediate pupils, they will recognize the unfamiliar word after the explanation by teacher. This will expose the pupils to variety of words used in English and by introducing this song, pupils will able to build strong foundation of language skills. The development of intra and interpersonal should be emphasized in the learning of language, therefore pupils could create a positive behaviour and attitude in the process of learning. Thus, this song is good for develop intra and inter personal skills by the values shown in the song. Since the song taught the pupils to love for themselves and the environment around them, it is really good for pupils to learn it. As a result, the relation between pupils and people around them is boosted up so the intra and interpersonal is developed successfully. As in this song, the linguistic development is shown through the words and sentences suitability to develop the language skill among the pupils. We can see that the using of language in this song is based on the informal style. Hence, by using informal language, the song can develop the oral language skills of pupils, and the pupils will able to use the language in their daily life.
