Music video Questionnaire Evaluating music video promoting unsigned British band Gender: F Age: 47

Did the music video hold your attention? Yes How do you rate the camera work and editing? Very good Was the music video too short/too long/correct length/other Correct length Would you watch the music video again? Yes Id like to listen to the words more this time. Can you suggest anything that may improve the appeal? I appreciate the split screen approach and what it does for the narrative however, Id like to see a little bit of single screen and a little bit of nonparallel video, to provide more of a juxtaposition. But definitely not at the complete expense of the parallel scenes. Were there any parts that you found confusing or hard to understand? No. If anything, I felt plenty of freedom to apply my thinking to the images and soundtrack. How did you find the representations of social classes? Well, I suspect there were some generalizations in there that it would be easy to refute. But if it generates thought and discussion, then its done its job. Did the splitscreen editing help in creating conflict/binary opposition? Yes. And I refer to my comment three above here. Were there any aspects that you found unfair, offensive/unappealing or that we missed? i.e. representations of age, gender, race etc. No. I think trying to include all oppressed groups in a concise soundbite would be difficult. Creating a single narrative to express a wider view is fine. It lets the viewer use their own intelligence to draw parallels with their own experience. What is the best part of the production? In light of the above comment. The simplicity. Does the music video reflect the genre of the track? In my view, yes.

Does the music video successfully promote the band/artist? Ah. No. But then, to be fair, that isnt why I visited this URL! I visited to view a video on inequality. Which is what it was. Had I visited on the basis that I was thinking about the promotion of a band, I might have answered this differently. Your question here does more to promote the band than the original invitation to view the video did. I needed to go back to the video to see who the band was. Any further comments would be appreciated The music is good. The video is good. The presentation of the questionnaire, in my case, risks not gathering all the answers you may be seeking. Questionnaire design is difficult. Questionnaire presentation is harder still.! That said, overall its a really good presentation.

Thank you for participating.
