Library Research & Brainstorming -Webistes to research Lynda.com google scholar city libraries (salt lake, denver, longview) -Things needed web only/physical picture description title -Things to include most relevant Filtering options (check boxes) bread crumb trail description number of availability bookmarks/saving option option for number of results -Develop scenarios for search

Process-Talk about how you would do user testing -There is a wide range of people/talents that come through interaction design -Screen captures of user testing Persona Name: Carissa Anderson Age: 22 Psychology Major Senior -Library: for studying/group projects couple times a week (ever other day) -Website: couple times per semester -Average computer skills -Library website for research - no apparent problems

My Experience For my library research I wanted to get an idea of the functions and features that I wanted to include in my library search and search results process. I did this by going and looking at different library websites and taking screen captures to get an idea of the content as well as the design that surrounds the whole thing. I created a list of things I wanted to make sure and include in my own library process and I also went around and did some research on campus for personas. My group was in charge of gathering information for psychology majors and so I went to the Ricks Building on campus to find some that I could ask some questions to. I got some responses about the schools library website and after combining our findings, my group created one persona that would be a model for a user of our library websites. Challenges Some of the challenges I had were finding out how I would condense all the knowledge that came with a library website. I found that there is a vast amount of information that is included in putting together a search engine along with results as vast as the ones in libraries. The best solution I could come up with was just to make sure and organize everything that was important in a basic search and then add in things that were less important so that they showed up, but just in a way that they could be out of the way for the most basic ways of searching.

My Experience My digital sketches actually didnt help me as much in the beginning, but it was when I really started to get sketching and just lay out all of my ideas was when I was able to start putting things together at a faster pace. It was hard to grasp all of the things I needed to include in the final library website so it was definitely easier to put everything on there all at once rather than do it piece by piece. The final product is shown in my presentation design. This was definitely a difficult project for me just because there was so much information and specifications to take in to account. If I were to do this project again I probably would have started laying out the organization from the beginning so that I could condense the amount of information I was working with. Overall Im happy with the way my final library search and search results pages turned out.
