Chabad of Greater Dayton
Founder Dinner
Wednesday, March 19, 2014
17 Adar II 5774
Honoring
Rabi Nochum and
Devorah Mangel
Start Over
The Rebbes unconditional love of people
knew no bounds. To the Rebbe, they all
belonged. He made each one feel at
home.
The Rebbes warm smile would heal
every aching heart. The Rebbe was al-
ways there, offering counsel and blessing,
comfort and hope, and often, material
help as well.
To the Rebbe there were no divisions
among the Jewish People. He considered
every Jew his own esh and blood. For
him, Jewish unity was not a slogan, a wish or a promise
it was reality.
It is the Rebbes belief in Jewish unity, the idea that not one of us is
complete unless all of us are included, that expresses the very core
and essence of the Rebbes teachings. It is this concept that moti-
vates and is the driving force of Chabad of Greater Dayton.
We dedicate this evening to the Rebbes memory and legacy.
Dedication
Start Over
Chabad of Greater Dayton was founded in 1993 with the blessing
and inspiration of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneer-
son, "##$%, whose profound love for all mankind and global vision
catapulted Chabad into an organization of over three thousand cen-
ters world-wide. We are dedicated to making the joy and beauty of
our Jewish heritage accessible to every Jew.
Everyone who walks through our doors joins our staff and volun-
teers in making Chabad of Greater Dayton a place where all feel
comfortable, welcomed and at home.
Chabads stress on the acceptance of every Jew on his/her own
level, regardless of background, afliation, age or nancial status, en-
courages everyone to feel a part of a community of learning and of
growth, of caring and of purpose.
We believe that a Jew is a Jew is a Jew no ifs, ands or buts. And by
blending traditional values with modern day awareness, we have
been successful in reaching and touching many people, helping them
appreciate their roots, identify proudly and grow in their Judaism.
By participating in this Dinner celebrating Chabads twenty years,
you join us as a partner in this milestone celebration, for your contri-
bution and presence is a vital part of this holy work.
Start Over
In the summer of 1993, The Lu-
bavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Men-
achem Mendel Schneerson, "##$%
sent us to establish Chabad of
Greater Dayton. Together with
our friends and supporters who
shared our vision, we joined
hands to create a place where the
whole community can feel welcome, a place to learn and to grow, to
celebrate and to practice, a place where all can feel accepted and em-
powered to discover their heritage and to share it with others.
We are celebrating twenty years of joint effort and achievement.
There is a lot to be proud of, but there is so much more to do.
Together we can push the limits of the possible.
This dinner honors the vision, the visionaries and those who trans-
late this vision into reality.

Greetings fom our Director
Dear Friends,
It is now 20 years since Devorah and I rst came to Greater Dayton. We were new
parents, new at our work, and new in Dayton. Our apartment in Kettering doubled
as a Chabad center.
The years went by, lled with activity. There were programs to design and to imple-
ment, plans to be made, details to take care of. But most of all, there were people
to get to know and to care about, as we became a part of our community.
Our path has led us from that Kettering apartment to our Washington Township
storefront and then to our beautiful home in the Weprin Center in Oakwood. We
have added one program after another, originated courses, organized celebrations,
from the Giant Menorah to Camp Gan Israel to the Jewish Learning Institute.
As we have grown, Rabbi Shmuel Klatzkin, as Associate Rabbi, and Rabbi Levi Si-
mon and Rochel Simon as Youth and Program Directors, came to join in our work.
Each one brings his or her own unique talent and each has enabled us to reach out
further and do more.
Each person on our staff, each place to which we come, each moment, and each
program gives us an opportunity to celebrate Jewish life together with you, joyfully.
It is you, our friends, who are at the center of it all. Our celebration is your celebra-
tion. It is together that we come alive, and we experience the joy of what being Jew-
ish is meant to be. It is the lasting legacy of the Rebbe that he focused Chabad on
always being a place where every Jew could feel at home and every person can feel
life and joy.
Tonight is a night for joyous and lively celebration. Let us be glad for what has
been accomplished and dedicate ourselves anew to do even more, ever more joy-
fully.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Nochum and Devorah Mangel
