About Our Subject

There has been a recent decline in antibiotic manufacture.The reason is because bacteria are adapting and at such a speed that antibiotic scientist can't pump out a new one in enough time.

What We Want to Know

We wanted to know how the bacteria are adapting so fast. If we knew why that would bring us even closer to knowing how to stop the quickly spreading mega virus.

What We Know
It takes about 90 days for bacteria to become completely immune to antibiotics. When the become immune they instantly become a meg level virus. The only known way to clear of the bacteria is to surgically clean the area that is infected or cut off the area. Those are two extreme cases of curing it.

Our Progress
Our research on how antibiotics work was very surprising. Antibiotics are selective poisons. It has been designed to kill the certain bacteria. Each antibiotic is different and effects bacteria in different ways. Creating an antibiotic is meticulous process of trial and error and we don't have room for error nor trial. We would even have to carefully examine a bacteria up close but, that may cause us to get infected and ultimately die . We just continued to do research.

What we learned
We learned that the resistance was not just created by mother nature be humans even speeded up the process. We are also at fault for our current predicament and now we have to dig ourselves out. Our hypothesis was wrong we thought the antibiotic could be able to adapt to the bacteria. We tried to focused more on the health part and less on the economic part. Who knew a single celled organism would start multi-billion dollar problem?
