Objectives

By the end of the module the participant will be able to make the correct entry to: Issue an industry discount ticket Issue an industry discount ticket with a minimum fare. Issue an industry discount ticket with validity dates

Instructions

For airport or city ticket office ticketing, the duty code 4 or 5 is required. For Ticket Delivery Service (TDS) ticketing, the duty code 7 is required. The Employee Profile Record (EPR) keyword MUL375 is required for all Phase 3.75 pricing and ticketing entries. For carriers utilizing the Sabre Automated Ticket Agent Checkout Function, the Employee Profile Record keyword DIENBR is also required. For additional information, refer to FOCUS

Module: Industry Discount Ticketing

Introduce

Industry Discount/Non-Revenue Ticketing It is important that the instructor be knowledgeable in the host policies and procedures of industry discount travel. Depending upon host policies and procedures, industry discount tickets may be issued on paper, electronically or through Ticket Delivery Service. For industry discount/non-revenue space available ticketing, passenger name records are created using the DS status code. Passenger name records with MM status code are not to be used for ticketing. If the flight number is included in the sell entry, a pseudo flight is not required. For example:

However, if the segment(s) is sold as open, a pseudo flight is required. For example:

Explain

The purpose of this entry is to issue a ticket for a discounted fare with a standby classification. Once the ticketing entry has been made, the ticket will indicate the carrier, class and city pair, but not the travel days or fare restrictions.

Note

Validity dates and minimum rates may be added as required. Any restrictions to the fare or travel times may also be added by the ticket agent and placed in the endorsement box. Phase 3.5 permits issuing tickets showing discounted fares and fares other than what the Sabre computer reservation system would select to appear on the ticket.

Module: Industry Discount Ticketing

For industry discount ticketing, Phase 3.5 permits tickets to be issued for ID90, ID75 and ID50. Other discount levels are not accepted at this time. Use of the Phase 3.5 format will produce a ticket with the fare reduced by 90, 75 or 50 percent. In markets showing more than one Y fare, such as Y, YW and YX, it will be necessary to show the fare level to be discounted in the entry. For example: W#QY/ID90#FCK#S3/4 W#QYW/ID75#FCA#S3/4

Reciprocal agreements between carriers are indicated in the ticketing format as R1 or R2 and immediately follow the discount, i.e., ID75R2. R1 R2 Positive Space Standby Used for ID50 Used for ID 75 or ID90

Apply

Distribute and examine the ticket. Note the fare calculation and the status box. Locate the Industry Discount indicator. Ask for any questions at this time then complete the transaction.

Explain

The purpose of this entry is to issue a ticket with a minimum fare allowable.

Note

It is the responsibility of the ticketing agent to determine any minimum fares imposed by a carrier. Minimum fares must be included in the ticketing entry if the Phase 3.5 entry would result in a lower than acceptable fare. Examine the ticket and complete the transaction. Below is an example when a round trip minimum applies. For example: W#Q/ID90R2-R50.00#F*AX23232323223/1099#S3/4

Explain

The purpose of this entry is to add validity dates on tickets to indicate the period a ticket may be used. In this example the not valid before date directly follows the * and the segments being restricted. The date must be five characters: 2 numeric digits and 3-letter month abbreviation. Examine the response and the Sabre generated ticket. Note the not valid before box on the ticket. Have students complete the transaction.

Explain

The purpose of this entry is to add not valid after validity dates. Since most industry discount tickets are valid for 90 days from the date of issue, it is safe to assume all ticketed segments will have not valid after segments.

Note

If the only validity date is a not valid after date, space five times after the * before typing in the date. This is due to the fact that a not valid before date requires five spaces and when not present in the entry, spaces are substituted.
