SS. Cyril & Methodius Parish United in Faith And now a few things to consider:
i
From the Pastors Desk Im sure we all recognize that the account of the man born blind from todays Gospel is not simply an account of physical blindness and the recovery of eyesight. The real cure has to do with spiritual blindness. The truth is that we dont see well at all when it comes to both seeing God and seeing other people. Beyond that, there is the matter of seeing and paying attention to the deeper realities hidden within the people and events that we encounter during our daily lives. There are a few important things in our lives we ought to be looking into; our relationship with our families, for instance. Many of us have not given serious attention to relationships with husbands, wives and children. Neglecting serious examination leads to family miseries. We need to give our relationships close attention, otherwise they can be taken for granted. The most important thing we need to look at is our relationship with God. It goes without saying that a lot of unhappiness is found in the lives of those who simply set God aside. They think they will get around to paying attention to God later, and later never comes around, often until its too late. We need to look at the now in our relationship with God. An important vision connected to this has to do with how people see themselves. All too often they make snap judgments, superficial judgments, about what God is doing in their lives. At a shallow level they simply assume they know what Gods doing. They have false assessments of what God is doing because they have not seriously prayed over the matter; they have not made a discernment based on some contemplation and meditation that gives them a vision of God and His works throughout both human history and what He has been doing throughout their lives. The secret to having good insight, inner sight, inner vision, is found in prayer, in spending time with God trying to see things as He sees them. If you take this route you will have some wonderful surprises. Youll begin to see beauty in others, a beauty that others and we ourselves often miss because we have eyes to see but dont really see. In spending some quiet time alone with God you will see Gods gifts in your life. Lent is almost over. The good news is that the rest of Lent lies in front of us, giving us, in Gods good graces, more chances to utilize the time remaining to Embrace

God Has Blessed Us...Easter Giving As we celebrate Easter, we are aware of all that our Risen Lord gives to us. SS. Cyril & Methodius continues to carry on the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ today. Our parish is blessed by many generous parishioners, who share their time, talents and treasures in support of the life of our parish. We remain a vibrant parish because of these sacrifices and charitable giving. As we enter the fourth quarter of our fiscal year, our Easter collection remains an important part of the operating budget. Charitable giving, besides cash, may also include gifts of shares of stocks, mutual funds or bonds. In giving appreciated assets to your parish, you could avoid paying any capital gains tax on the items and your contribution may be tax-deductible. The church is allowed to sell the assets, and receive the benefits of the appreciated value without being taxed. Visit www.parishgift.org for more information or call the rectory at (630) 257-2776. Thank you for your generosity. May God bless you and your family.

Phase III 2014
Dear Parishioners & Friends of SS. Cyril & Methodius, We are in the final phase of the church's renovation and we can't stop now. The final phase of our renovation involves the following: 1. The removal of the current carpet and tile flooring followed by the installation of a new terrazzo floor in the body of the church along with restoration of the sanctuary floor. 2. Renovation of the current church pews. The plan is to refinish the existing pew ends and to replace the seats and backs with superior solid oak. By refinishing the pew ends, the cost of pews is down from $150,000 (new pews) to $110,000, thus saving $40,000. With new seats and backs we will also eliminate the middle divider in the longer pews, picking up additional seating. 3. The installation of spring loaded padded kneelers which are covered by a lifetime warranty and provide both comfort and noise reduction when kneelers are dropped. As you are aware, all of the restoration work done to date has been paid for and the parish remains debt-free. The estimated cost of the final phase of the renovation is approximately $300,000. The current balance in our account for capital expenditures is $276,582. Consequently, we face a shortfall of $23,418. SS. Cyril & Methodius has over 2,150 families registered as parishioners. I am asking each family to make an effort to contribute $200 to this most worthwhile endeavor. If each registered parish family participates, we will easily exceed our goal. I know there may be families struggling financially and if this is the case, please give whatever you can afford. If you are in a position to afford more, please consider giving generously to this exciting conclusion of the renovation. The goal is to raise the needed money and complete the project in 2014 to celebrate our 130th anniversary. I thank you for the support that you will give. May God bless you for your faithfulness and generosity. Sincerely, Fr. Waldemar Stawiarski

Drodzy Parafianie,

Wielu z nas nie przyoyo wikszej uwagi do zwizku z mem, on i dziemi. Zignorowanie powanych problemw, prowadzi do rodzinnego nieszczcia. Sekret dobrej intuicji, wzroku wewntrznego, wewntrznej wizji, znajduje si w modlitwie i w czasie powiconym Bogu, kiedy staramy si Go zrozumie. Jeli pjdziesz t drog, to spotka ci wiele wspaniaych niespodzianek. Zaczniesz widzie pikno w innych. Pikno, ktre czsto przepuszczamy, poniewa mamy oczy, ktre tak naprawd nie widz.
