PRESENT PROBLEMS OF PAKISTAN

In today Pakistan we are facing many problems. Energy crisis, terrorism, unemployment and inflation are main problems of Pakistan and I will briefly describe these main problems one by one. Energy Crises Energy crisis is shortfall in the supply of energy resources to an economy. It usually refers to the shortage of oil and additionally to electricity or other natural resources. As reported by a renowned newspaper The country may face energy crisis by the year 2 ! following healthy growth of "#$ in electricity demand during the last %uarter, which will erode surplus production in absence of commissioning of any new power generation pro&ect during this financial year,'. The report mentioned that the difference between firm supply and peak demand is estimated at (,(2) *+ by the year 2 )," when firm electricity supply will stand at "(, (( *+ against peak demand of 2 ,(-. *+ the country needs a %uantum &ump in electricity generation in medium,term scenario to re/ert the possibilities of load shedding in future due to shrinking gap between demand and supply of electricity at peak hours. Inflation Pakistan, with a population of about "0 million people has undergone a remarkable macro, economic growth during last few years, but the core problems of the economy are still unsol/ed. Inflation is one of these core problems. 1o/ernment claims that in order to keep the prices of essential commodities under control, it has been taking /arious measures throughout the year. 2rom 2 # until 2 " , the a/erage inflation rate in Pakistan was " ."( percent reaching an historical high of 2(.## percent in August of 2 - and a record low of ".." percent in 3uly of 2 #. Inflation rate refers to a general rise in prices measured against a standard le/el of purchasing power. Inflation needs to be controlled by strategic planning. 4omestic production should be encouraged instead of imports5 in/estment should be gi/en preference in consumer goods instead of lu6uries, Agriculture sector should be gi/en subsidies, foreign in/estment should be attracted, and de/eloped countries should be re%uested for financial and managerial assistance. And lastly a strong monitoring system should be established on different le/els in order to ha/e a sound e/aluation of the process at e/ery stage. Unemployment 7nemployment is also well known problem of Pakistan today facing. 2rom ")) until 2 ), Pakistan8s unemployment rate a/eraged (.-- percent reaching an historical high of -.2! percent in 4ecember of 2 2 and a record low of #."# percent in 4ecember of ")) . The labor force is defined as the number of people employed plus the number unemployed but seeking work. The non,labor force includes those who are not looking for work, those who are institutionali9ed and those ser/ing in the military.

Terrorism Pakistan is one of those countries which are being affected by the terrorism acti/ities in their premises5 there are a lot of after effects of these disastrous acti/ities which include the monetary loss, loss of li/es and e/en the loss of national peace and dignity. Pakistan is going through hard times under the hand of terrorism acti/ities. The start of the terrorism in Pakistan was late in "))) when the incident of :al mas&id took place. The impacts of terrorism are brutal and breathtaking on the country as it has destroyed the economy of our country. The main reason behind this is that due to such horrible law and order situation of Pakistan the foreign in/estors ha/e stop their in/estment in the country and unemployment has increased. The loss of precious li/es and the destruction of the public and go/ernmental property ha/e made terrorism as one of the most threatening factor for the national interest of Pakistan. +hat Pakistan needs the most today is slogan gi/en by father of the nation i.e. 7nity, 2aith and discipline. +hat can be a better response than the display of loyalty, which the poor country is demanding from e/ery citi9en. ;ise or fall for e/er. *end the rag or wear the tag. +hate/er, it has to be done immediately, time is not only running out it is also running away. E/eryone needs protection, security, safeguard of fundamental rights. In order to o/ercome these ma&or problems, we should do some positi/e changes in our constitution and should protect our constitution.
