Knit Market Bag

Size: 15" [38 cm] long, exluding handles


Materials: Country Colors Big Ball 1 ball

Suggested Needles: One pair knitting needles size 6 US, (Metric size 4.00 mm) One pair knitting needles size 15 US, (Metric size 10.00 mm) TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE Gauge or Tension: 21 sts and 27 rows to 4" [10 cm], measured over Stocking stitch using suggested smaller needles or any size needles which will give the correct stitch gauge or tension.
Wash in cool water, gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat, maximum of 5 minutes, remove and lay flat to dry.

Abbreviations: K, knit; p, purl; st, stitch; sts, stitches; St st, Stocking stitch; sl, slip; ", inches; cm, centimeter; mm, millimeter; rep, repeat; beg, begin or beginning; rem, remain or remaining; yo, yarn over; tog, together; tbl, through back loops. Note: Bag is worked from side to side. Handles are worked along cast on and cast off edges of Body. To Make Body: Using smaller needles, cast on 24 sts and knit 5 rows, noting that first row is a wrong side row. Row 6: (right side) *(K1, p1, k1) all in next st; rep from * to end - 72 sts. Now change to larger needles and work as follows: Row 1: (wrong side) Sl 1, p to end. Row 2: Sl 1, *k2tog DO NOT slip sts off needle, k2tog tbl into same sts, slip 2 sts off needle Cluster 2tog made; rep from * to last st, k1. Row 3: Sl 1, p to end. Row 4: Sl 1, k1, *Cluster 2tog; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2. Row 5: Work as Row 3. Repeat Rows 2-5 until piece measures 18" [46 cm] from beg, ending after a wrong side row. Change to smaller needles and continue as follows: Next Row: (right side) [K3tog] 24 times - 24 sts. Knit 5 rows. Cast off kntiwise. Handles: Using smaller needles and with right side of bag facing, pick up and k 30 sts along side of bag, cast on 80 sts - 110 sts. Knit 6 rows. Cast off knitwise. Sew end of handle to bag. Repeat on other side.
