RE: Denial of street lighting, garden lighting in the OccupyTLV
camp request for immediate renewal of lighting.
Your immediate corrective actions are requested, and written response
within 10 days.
Mr Zluf:
Over the past week, all street lighting on Namir Road, the part that
borders the OccupyTLV camp is down.
In parallel, Tel Aviv Municipality/Israel Police implant, Mr Uriel
Benveniste, disconnected all lighting of the public space of the camp in
the area of Parashat Derachim x Namir Road.
Such actions came following the disconnection of all standard garden
lighting months ago, in the aftermath of stealing of the central electronic
cable of the garden by the same Mr Benveniste, while he worked for a Tel
Aviv Municipality contractor.
The end result of such actions is that the entire garden is in darkness all
night.
Such conditions contradict the November 28, 2012 Agreement, which
requires lighting in the garden by the Municipality.
Such conditions also contradict standard safety procedures, both for the
the benefit of the camp dwellers and for the benefit of all other Tel Aviv
residents including pedestrians on that part of Namir Road, where the
sidewalks are now under total darkness.
Such conditions also contradict standard lighting by the Tel Aviv
Municipality in other public gardens.
Such conditions also contradict conduct of the Israel Police, which treats
the camp as a high crime potential area, and operates a special
Intelligence Officer (Tzvika) to collect information on the camp
1/3

dwellers on a regular basis. Placing a high crime potential area in total

darkness simply does no make sense at all...
Therefore, I request immediate corrective action and renewal of
street lighting, if not lighting in the garden itself.
