Wi-Fi Wireless Remote Control

ADB Wi-Fi software The ADB Wi-Fi software introduces wireless Ethernet remote control to all PHOENIX/XT and MENTOR desks running ISIS v2.10 and later. The software runs on a Pocket PC (Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003). Functions include channel and memory management, macro execution, direct access to dimmers and more! Simplest configuration The simplest Wi-Fi configuration requires one Wireless Access Point wired to a MENTOR or a PHOENIX/XT lighting console, and a Pocket PC running ADB's Wi-Fi software. Network configuration More elaborate installations will combine, over the venue's Ethernet-for-lighting network, several lighting consoles, several Wireless Access Points, and several Pocket PC's. For an introduction to the user benefits and capabilities of networking over Ethernet, please refer to page 18.
Warning This equipment operates in the 2400-2483.5 MHz frequency band. Users must check whether its use is allowed in their country.
HF Wireless Remote Control

Wireless Remote Controller The wireless remote controller is a sturdy multi-purpose tool, with all the flexibility and user benefits of a wireless system. Functions include playback of channels, groups and memories, starting of macros, and direct access to dimmers. ISIS Light Tablet - Advanced Graphical Remote Control

The ISIS Light Tablet is a software providing on a Tablet PC or a laptop, a portable, user configurable, virtual console which can remotely activate all the functions of any ADB PHOENIX/XT or MENTOR lighting control system running on ISIS software, V 2.10 and following. Communication is via the Ethernet cable or wireless via Wi-Fi. Ethernet and Advanced Dimmer Network (ADN)
Ethernet / ArtNet
ADB has adopted the 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet network based on the widely accepted TCP/IP standard and on ArtNet, a protocol designed to allow the distribution of 256 DMX512 Universes (over 32,000 channels) organised as 16 Sub-Nets of 16 Universes each. ArtNet is in the public domain thus allowing the users to interconnect nodes and programmes from any manufacturer who has adopted it. Ethernet data transmission is via a 10BaseT or a 100BaseTX cable generally known as STP/CAT5.
Advanced Dimmer Network (ADN)

Dimmers of the MEMORACK / EURORACK 60 / EURODIM 3 families can be networked over the DMX cable via a proprietary bidirectional protocol for the purpose of remote programming, monitoring, fault reporting and memory management from the NETBUS Dimmer Controller or a laptop PC with the Dimmer Manager kit, which also provides a gateway to an Ethernet network.
Video Node
The Video Node is a portable unit which receives ISIS screens from any ISIS device on the ADB Network (ArtNet) or by USB from an ISIS console. It is also possible to have a wireless connection by the way of a Wi-Fi CF card (option). Video Node has 2 physical SVGA outputs; each output can produce any ISIS screen.
NETPORT
Simple, low cost Ethernet/ArtNet node (9.5" x 1U) for the conversion of Ethernet into 2 independent DMX512 outputs. NETPORT connects to a 10BaseT network via a RJ45 connector. Supplied with external power supply.

ADB Ethernet Network
is a "plug-and-play" system designed to be very flexible, expandable, easy to configure and install. Moreover, the choice of ArtNet, a protocol which is in the public domain, allows nodes and programmes from other manufacturers to be connected to the ADB Ethernet Network without any conversion box and extra costs. Typical examples are Capture, Sand-Net and WYSIWYG.
Subsequently, both parts of the show can be merged into a single showfile and, more importantly, replayed from just one console. The additional benefit in a system with two consoles is that the second one can act as a backup during the show. Different parts of different shows can be merged into one new show. This provides a very efficient and fast way to plot new shows. For example one can load the house patch into a show that has been plotted in another venue, or an operator can load his profiles into a show plotted by another operator (macros, screen configurations, etc). Each node with a video output and ISIS software can act as a remote screen. So the laptops, desktop PCs, and consoles on the network can be used as remote screens. Up to four screens can be connected to each network node. ISIS software is common to all PHOENIX, PHOENIX/XT and MENTOR lighting control systems. Therefore, all functions programmed on one type of console can be run from any other one. Wi-Fi Wireless Remote Control is added by connecting Wireless Access Points to the Ethernet network. Handheld Pocket PC's running ADB's Wi-Fi software give you access to channel and memory management, macro execution, direct access to dimmers and more! See page 14.
Main Features and User Benefits

ADB Ethernet Network allows different parts of a lighting system to be interconnected. This means that one control desk can be connected to another one located in a remote location to enable bidirectional data transfer between the two. Both desks could send data to a printer. A remote visual display could be provided in the theatre auditorium or TV studio to allow designers and technicians to see what is going on. Although DMX512 has been remarkably successful in its wide acceptance, it is not always capable of carrying the quantity and variety of data required in a large modern lighting system. DMX data can be sent over the Ethernet network allowing a wide variety of lighting information to be distributed around a building and then picked off where and when required, this with a throughput typically 400 times higher than via a DMX network. Since the ArtNet protocol uses Ethernet as a transport medium, commercially available Ethernet accessories can be integrated in a lighting system. One example is the use of a Pocket PC with ADB Wi-Fi software to provide wireless bidirectional remote control. Other examples include connecting the Ethernet Network with directional radio for linking systems in different buildings. It is equally easy to connect it to a telephone or ISDN for long distance remote control. ADB Ethernet Network can also be interconnected with ADN, the Advanced Dimmer Network, via NETPORT/XT DMX node and the Dimmer Manager Software (see p. 16). Up to 16 independent DMX universes (a total of 8192 DMX addresses) can be provided on the ADB Ethernet Network with ISIS software. Any of these universes can be available on the DMX output of each Ethernet-to-DMX-node. Full tracking operation between lighting consoles is another feature of the ADB Ethernet Network. Any action taken on one console is automatically and immediately tracked by the other ones in real time, so that at all times any console can be fully synchronised with another one. All data, configuration, screen information, etc. are transferred practically instantly. In a master/slave system, should the master break down, the slave will automatically take over without the output stage being affected. ADB Ethernet Network allows fast data exchange between different parts of the lighting system. With the ADB multitasking concept, saving or loading of shows, sending data to a printer, etc. can be achieved simultaneously. In larger networks, consoles can be connected to dedicated file servers for central storage of shows and back-up files. With the ADB Ethernet Network, the multi-operator programming capability allows two or more operators from two or more consoles to program a show simultaneously, for example one for the conventional and one for the intelligent fixtures. 18
Does Ethernet replace DMX?

NO! Ethernet does not allow daisy-chaining, like DMX512 does, so Ethernets hub-and-spoke distribution involves more electronic boxes which could fail. Moreover a UTP/STP cable cannot be longer than 100 m (from active part to active part) which means that to cover say 250 m with Ethernet, two line amplifiers are required, whereas one DMX cable run could do the job. A good & reliable system will be a well-thought combination of Ethernet (possibly with full back-up) and DMX. It may be wise to have a number of DMX universes wired directly from the console to e.g. the main dimmers. In the event of a failure in one of the Ethernet building blocks, these dimmers will still be under control.

S2MS Stage & Studio Management System - provides a centralised technical management and control solution for theatre, TV and architectural applications. S2MS is unique in its ability to work with DMX, EIB-bus, Ethernet and PLC protocols in addition to the standard analogue and RS232 formats. This allows S2MS to provide central control of existing systems, replacing all of the bespoke systems often used in earlier designs. With new designs, including S2MS at the outset allows the system to be expanded and reprogrammed quickly and easily by the user. In a theatre, S2MS centralises control of functions such as Auditorium Lighting, Work Lights whites and blues, Curtain Controls, Electrical and Security Monitoring, Proximity and Light Level Detection, Stage Management Controls, Power Contactors, Non-Dims and much more. MEMORACK 180
180/220kW, high performance, all-digital dimming system consisting of up to six independent MEMORACK 30 modules, mounted on telescopic guides and easily disconnectable. These modules are self-contained 19" x 3U units, configured as 12 x 3 kW, 6 x 5 kW, or 3 x 12 kW. The MEMORACK 180 system is intended for professional applications in stage and studio lighting whenever individual plug-in modularity is not required. The dimmer modules can easily be removed and installed in touring racks. Available in several configurations: 72 x 3 kW 36 x 5 kW combinations of 12 x 3 kW and 6 x 5 kW modules. Alternatively, MEMORACK 180 can be equipped with up to 8 MICRORACK 25 or MEMORACK 15 modules for a total of 96 x 2.3 kW or 48 x 3 kW dimmers. Advanced Dimmer Network (ADN) Dimmers of the MEMOPACK / MEMORACK / EURORACK 60 / EURODIM 3 families can be networked over the DMX cable via a proprietary bidirectional protocol for the purpose of remote programming, monitoring, fault reporting and memory management from the NETBUS Dimmer Controller or a laptop PC with the Dimmer Manager kit, which also provides a gateway to an Ethernet network. NETBUS (option) NETBUS is a small (340 x 285 x 75 mm), portable, low cost Remote Dimmer Controller which can be inserted anywhere in the ADN network and provides: 23 direct access keys for storing and replaying the lighting cues in the dimming system remote access to all dimmer functions overview of centralised error messages NETBUS is particularly useful for architectural lighting sequences. Dimmer Manager Kit (option) The kit consists of a NETPORT/XT Ethernet to DMX+ADN converter (see p. 16) and Dimmer Manager, a remote programming and reporting software for PC. Its graphical user interface gives an overview of, and remote access to all the dimmers in the most complex installation. Dimmer Manager provides a system-wide overview of events such as absent dimmer units, status of CPU and back-up CPU, error and alarm messages (fan failure, temperature, missing phase...), start of Scan Load routine, reporting of actual load per dimmer. Dimmer system management functions include downloading/uploading of dimmer parameters, on-line and off-line editing, graphical editing and library of custom dimmer laws, and creating back-ups of system configurations e.g. per show or per venue.
NETBUS
To order a MEMORACK 180 A MEMORACK 180 cabinet can be equipped with pre-wired frames adapted to the selected dimmer modules. Blank panels (3U) are available for non-used frames. For accurate, stable and reliable performance, combined with comprehensive remote programming and diagnostics functions. Two cabinet sizes are proposed: DD3 180/270/NP divided into max. 5 crates for up to 90 x 3 or 5 kW dimmers, and DD3 225/270/NP divided into max. 6 crates for up to 108 x 3 or 5 kW dimmers. Proven Design and Reliability

The generously sized heatsink provides efficient cooling, and its large thermal inertia has a stabilising effect on the temperature. Hot patching of modules is allowed, thanks to a power connector with sequenced mating of the contacts. Three indicators provide a quick overview of the dimmer status: fuse OK/MCB on, output voltage, output current.

Zoom Followspots with Condenser Optics for 2000 / 2500 W Halogen Lamps
HZU 208 D
NIETHAMMER followspots are based on the same concepts and technology as the profile spotlights. Many components are common to both families, thus making maintenance easier. The same optical and mechanical improvements as implemented in the profiles (see p. 54) are also to be found in the "D" series of both halogen and HMI followspots. In addition the handling mechanism of all followspots has been redesigned. It consists now of a swivel arm with cardanic suspension mounted on a ball-bearing revolving plate. This system allows the operator to aim the followspot in any direction with a very stable centre of gravity. This new handling mechanism can be retrofitted on existing followspots.

These spotlights have been designed for use in professional applications that require high levels of lighting with daylight balance, long lamp life, and limited power consumption. They use a 2000 W HQI-TS lamp that produces an intense 5800 K colour temperature flux. The lamp has a lifetime of 4000 hours, approximately 8 times that of conventional metal-halide lamps. It uses 50% less current than conventional tungsten lamps, which allows a thinner or a longer supply cable between the spotlight and the ballast. The use of a polished anodised aluminium reflector and a large diameter Fresnel lens further contributes to the very high light output of these fixtures. A precise adjustment mechanism enables the beam angle to be adjusted between 11 and 56 for maximum flexibility.
Ballast PS1 Each spotlight is powered by a sturdy, inductive ballast, type PS1, mounted in an 19" x 3U rack which can easily be "flightcased".

SOFTLUX Cool Lights

for 18 W and 55 W Fluorescent Lamps
SOFTLUX cool lights are intended to provide cool running, continuous lighting, with either Tungsten (3200 K) or Daylight (5200 K - 5600 K) balance, in Film and Studio applications. They range from 55 W to 440 W in various combinations of 55 W fluorescent lamps. SOFTLUX produces 300% to 400% more lumen per Watt than conventional tungsten lamps resulting in less heat emission, less power consumption, more comfort for the subject and a greatly reduced HVAC cost. SOFTLUX fluorescent lamps will last a minimum of 6000 h, 60 times longer than conventional tungsten or HMI lamps, without degradation and loss of colour balance. SOFTLUX dimming is through the DMX signal of a lighting console, and/or a local potentiometer. SOFTLUX combines a specially designed lamp/ reflector unit which gives a symmetrical, directional "punchy" light output and allows longer throw or wider spread as required. The simple attachment of a honeycomb screen allows local light control with 20, 40 or 60 field angle. SOFTLUX Linear Space Lights SLW 220 & SLW 440, fitted with 2 or 4 pairs of 55 W lamps mounted side by side with an integral, 4-leaf black barndoor and optional eggcrate, are intended to produce a wide angular light with relatively sharp edges for illuminating areas, walls, groups of artists and even cyclorama. SOFTLUX combines modern advances in fluorescent lamp technology and electronic control to provide a powerful, high frequency light source, both flexible and easy to use. SOFTLUX comes into a very rigid, lightweight aluminium body, slim and rounded for maximum operational safety, with an elegant finish in a dark grey semi-gloss paint. Other colours upon request.
