2014 Spring Training: 2-0, 2.13 in 4 G, 3 GS: W #2 3/13 at AZ; allowed 1 ER in 4.2 IP (5 H, 4 K, 0 BB)...W #1 3/8 at LAD; allowed 3 R (1 ER) in 1st, but did not allow a run in 2nd or 3rd...worked 3.0 IP, and allowed a 2-out run in 3rd, 3/3 vs. COL...made spring debut in relief on 2/27 vs. SD, tossing 2.0 shutout frames (1H, 1 BB, 1 K). Had two separate stints with the Mariners, April 1-30 and June 6-July 11, appearing in 12 games, 2 starts. Went 0-3 with 24 saves and a 4.12 ERA in 59 appearances in 2013 in his third Major League season. Recorded 24 saves before moving into middle relief role in early August. Ranks 8th in Mariners history with 53 career saves. Opened season 11-for-11 in save opportunities with a 0.50 ERA (1 ER, 18.0 IP) April 1-May 16, but posted a 5.71 ERA (26 ER, 41.0 IP) with 28 walks in 42 appearances beginning with first blown save May 20 at Cleveland. With AAA Tacoma from Aug. 5-31, going 0-1, 10.50 ERA in 8 G.

Went 1-3 with a 4.86 ERA (20 ER, 37.0 IP) in 35 games over three stints with the Mariners last season. Went 0-0 with 1 save and a 4.35 ERA (15 ER, 31.0 IP) in 22 games with AAA Tacoma. In two Major League seasons (2012-13), held left-handed batters to a .219 batting average with 4 extra-base hits. Acquired by Seattle from Milwaukee in the Rule 5 Draft on Dec. 8, 2011originally selected by Milwaukee in the 21st round of the 2008 June Draft out of Rice University.

2014 Spring Training: 0-0, 0.00 in 4 G: 1.0 ShO IP 3/14 at COL...1.2 ShO IP 3/10 at AZ (1 H, 3 K)...1.0 ShO IP 3/7 vs. CIN (1 K)...allowed 1 hit but struck out the side in 1.0 ShO IP 2/28 at SD. Named the Mariners 2013 Minor League Relief Pitcher of the Year. Went 1-3 with 15 saves in 44 relief appearances with AA Jackson in 2013limited opponents to a .183 average (33x180). Allowed only 5 runs over his last 38 relief appearances (1-1-12, 1.01 ERA), lower his season ERA from 8.44 to 1.80. Appeared in 5 games with the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League. Originally selected by the Mariners in the 8th round of the 2011 June Draft out of Texas State University.

Went 0-0 with an 11.12 ERA (7 ER, 5.2 IP) in 6 relief appearances with the San Francisco Giants in 2013also appeared in 27 games in the minor leagues split between the San Francisco and Tampa Bay organizations. Has pitched in parts of eight seasons in the Colorado (2006-2007), Kansas City (2008), Boston (2009-2010), San Francisco (20102011, 2013) and New York Mets organizations (2012). Member of the Giants 2010 World Championship squad posting a 0.67 ERA (2 ER, 27.0 IP) in 25 relief appearances during the final two months of the season. Originally signed by Texas as a 16-year-old outfielder, but was converted to pitcher, and did not make his US professional debut until 2003 in the New York Yankees organization...signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on January 2, 2014.
