LAB 18.

03 Step 1: RAID Level 0 1 Short Description Stripes data on two drives Duplicates data on two drives Stores stripes and parity calculations on separate drives Adds another parity block to 5 Stripes data as 1 arrays set up as 0 Benefits Very high read and write speeds High Fault tolerance, faster read speeds Good fault tolerance, better read and write Very good fault tolerance Speed of 0, tolerance of 1 Drawbacks No error detection or Fault tolerance Same write speed as a single drive Slow transfer rates Slow transfer rates Half total capacity Minimum Drives 2 2

Step 2: I only have my laptop and dont have access to a server system or that many HDDs. But to answer the question, the drives in my laptop are 64GB (SSD) and 500GB (HDD). All the steps beyond require hardware I do not have access to. LAB 18.04 Step 1: I created a Test folder with a word document named LAB18.04TEST Step 2:

Step 3: I have a blank DVD-R that I will use for this backup Step 4:

I am not currently using my own computer, so for this lab I selected no schedule. Step 5:

Step 6 Grandfather is a full monthly backup stored offsite, Father is a weekly full backup that is also stored offsite, Son is differential daily backup. Full/Incremental stores the archived bits, that is, it stored the changes that have been made in files since last backup. Differential is almost the same but doesnt turn off the archived bits. Differential acts a cumulative backup that stores the same changes that have been stored already. This could be seen as a plus or minus depending on your implementation. You must restore incremental backups sequentially to read a later time. Incremental (Monday Full, Tuesday Changes made on Tuesday, Wednesday Changes made on Wednesday, Thursday Changes made on Thursday, Friday Changes made on Friday, etc.) Differential (Monday Full, Tuesday Changes through Tuesday, Wednesday changes through Wednesday, Thursday changes through Thursday, Friday changes through Friday, etc.)

Step 7: You would need to restore Mondays backup, then Tuesdays backup, Wednesdays backup, finally Thursdays backup. Step 8: You would need to restore Mondays backup, then Wednesdays backup. Step 9: Cold site Least expensive, does not contain any backups of the original site. Least effective and takes the longest to recover from disaster. Warm site Smaller than the original site, but contains some setup backups systems. These are not updated frequently and may not be complete. Hot site Complete duplicate of the original site, Contains fully set up backup systems and able to update in real-time. This is the safest method and provides the easiest recovery, but also most expensive backup method. Popular amongst large corporations.
