Parallel Computing GRID Technologies Distributed Systems and Highly Available Systems Computational Sciences

Objectives
Training of researchers and independent professionals, with experience in the field defined by the master, Parallel and Distributed Computing, with the ability to carry out research work and/or technology transfer work, and ability to supervise and guide other researchers and/or professionals.

Training of professionals having their scope in industry Training of researchers having their scope within the scientific community

Professional Opportunities:
Toy Industry
Example Project HIPERPLAST
Funded by European Commission Objective: Develop a parallel simulator for the injection process of short-fiber reinforced plastic Designed to work on low-cost parallel platforms (cluster of PCs) Allows the manufacturer to reduce the number of necessary prototypes during the design, thus reducing cost and time

Professional Opportunities:
Medical Applications and Bioinformatics
Example Project HIPERCIR
Funded by European Commission Segmentation and 3D reconstruction of medical images (CAT, MT, US,) Designed to work on a Cluster of PCs with commodity software (Windows OS) Provides similar performance as a high cost equipment with an investment of 20% only

Professional Opportunities:
Building Industry
Example Project HIPERBUILD
3D modelling, analysis and visualization of building structures Allows for realistic simulation of building as large and complex as desired Designed to work on supercomputers or clusters of PCs or workstations Can increase the throughput of the engineering company up to 50%, while reducing constructive costs between 1015%
