Extended Project Brief a photograph book, a coffee table collection style..

Introduction: My goal for the extended project and what I want to achieve upon my completion of my project is; A complete understanding of photography- This will be challenging to get a complete understanding of photography. This includes knowing the camera, what functions to use, what lens to use in different places, hours of the day and distance as well as getting a full knowledge on how at photography is structured and composition. Learn tip and tricks for taking the best photos- Learning tips and tricks from the experts to get the perfect photo. This includes online tutorials from experts tell you the right lens for the photo, what mode to set the camera on, shutter speed (how fast you can take the photo), the angle and the way you hold your camera and what time of day to take your photo. Also learning how to edit photos if required. Finish my Clique photo completion- Meeting the brief for the photo and the time of submission. This means following all the criteria for the photo, submitting it at the right time and meeting key mile stones. It is also the opportunity for professional feedback. A fully completed photography book- Completed photography book/album which includes composition of the photos relating to the brief for each mouth and description around the theme. I have always have enjoyed and related to visuals art which includes anything to do with thinking out-side the box or creating things. Last year I decided I was going to save up for a camera and start photography so that I could do it for the extended project in year 9. I think I have the skill to capture moments and to think outside of the square to get the best photo possible. I think I will stay interested in this project and photography because it is fun, enjoyable and you can take your camera anywhere with you. I think photography will also be challenging. It might be that you have to take 100 photos of the same thing to capture the right moment in time. It will be challenging as I will have try out different modes, experiment with different editing styles, use my tripod to keep my camera still or even sometimes using things around me, to achieve the best photo. I hope to learn and succeed a skill to use across many areas of my life though doing this year long project of photography, to gain more knowledge and structure to capture that perfect moment. To learn different techniques about taking photo, different styles of capturing a photo and general knowledge about photography that can make me into a better photographer for my future. Who know where to next.

Project Development: How will I ensure successful completion of my project? What might I need to learn or do? I will ensure I successfully complete my project in full, meet all criteria and on time. I might need to create a time table so I can keep on track of my project and also measure how much I have done against key milestones. I will have to learn how to create a photo book and how to make sure I dont get to behind with my other subjects but whilst still keeping my project on track to meet key mmilestones. What skills will you need to learn or develop? How will you learn/develop each of these?

The skills I will need to learn and develop is taking and editing of a picture. I will first have to take the best photo possible and create the effect Im after. This will mean getting peoples advice off social media, watching tutorials or getting help from people around me. I will also then need to edit the photos if editing is required. This will involve working out an easy program to use whilst also giving the best finish to the photo.
Where will most of the project be completed? Explain different locations for different stages? Most of my project will come from around Melbourne. My photography competition has different locations/mediums for every topic. I.e. Water- Beach, Environment and natureGarden or park. So the location will be determined, based around the topic for the month. Who will work with you to develop skills? Who might you need to consult? The people who work with me will help me in developing my skills. The Clique competitions give me tutorials every month based around the topic from a Canon master. I have also joined the year 10, 11, 12 photography club, that Ms Jenkins is running after schools on a Tuesday. This will give me an opportunity to talk to Ms Jenkins about my ideas and she can give me some tips and tricks about photography. Also a good chance to ask her for an advice when editing photos. Who (outside my family) will evaluate the quality of your project?

Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of your photo is the most important in order to grow and stretch my development. Knowing what you have done right in the photo and what you need to improve on. Im lucky enough that my photos are being judges and commented by professional photographers each month.

This is a part of my Clique Competition for my water unit.

Good job capturing this effect, careful of cropping to closely though and cutting off your subject as this can be distracting.

What materials will you need? What costs will you need to cover? The materials you need are up to you. You will need a camera, which I already have. I have a Canon 600D, twin lens kit. You can add accessories to your camera, but that is not always needed. So the real cost is just buying the camera. I will also have budget and save up for the end of the project a book or album. Due to the cost of the camera which was very expensive, the budget will have to be under $50.. Exploring Methodologies/Strategies

My first method I plan to use is the Clique Competition as a structure. This method has a great advantages to help me learn and evolve and make sure it is completed in time. The advantages are as followed; A structure to base my photos around by a word given each month- well because you dont have to come up with your own and waste valuable time. A deadline in which the photos have to be submitted within- good for time management, so you dont get out of track. An honest feedback and marked photo- getting feedback for you photo by an expert to see how you are going. Online tutorials- Help you in ore\der to take the perfect photo and to help you devolve your skills. If the Clique competition does not work out, my second option of method would be me making up the topics to take photos of and to get help by reading the camera manual and by people around me instead of the experts. The disadvantages of this are followed; No set deadline- you can lose track of time and there is no way of measuring your success. No structure- wasting valuable time deciding what you are going to take photos of.

By: Jack Walton Little feedback of your photos- Only really family members would be able to comment on your photos and they wouldnt be as actuate as the experts feedback

Intellectual Character The intellectual character (Curious, Open-minded, Truth-seeking, Strategic, Sceptical

and Metacognitive) will help me learn and develop my skill in photography. Each Intellectual character will help in a different way: Curious- Im curious about professional photographers. How they started to be where they are now. If they started where I am at now doing it for project or a competition. Curious if one day, will I be a professional photographer. Also Curious if I will evolve and learn new skills. Open-minded- Ive got to be open minded with the feedback I get. There not doing it to be mean or to make me feel bad about my photography, the masters are helping reach my full potential and I have to be open minded about that. Truth-seeking- Seeking the truth with-in the photo and the feedback. I have to trust them that they are giving me the truth about my photos. Strategic- Setting up key mile stones and make sure I stay on track within the year. I have be strategic on my time management Sceptical- Im sceptical if I can finish the photography book. Ive never really done photography before, so Im very sceptical on how it going to play out. Metacognitive (thinking about thinking)- having theme How and where you are going to take the photo. Have a good structure to help you and having a brain that thinks outside the box.
