Neutral Latin American Spanish There is a wide range of differences among variations of Spanish throughout Latin America.

These differences are called regional variants or dialects. For example, the main differences between the Spanish spoken in Chile and other Latin American dialects basically lie in the pronunciation, syntax and vocabulary. Indeed, a Chilean, an Argentinian or a Uruguayan will probably have different expressions therefore the neutral Latin Spanish will be used to avoid regionalisms and will use expressions or words common to all Latin American Spanish speakers to guarantee a total understanding between them.

Mexican Spanish Mexican Spanish is a local use of Latin America Spanish. In Mexico one can find a great variety of expressions and words which wont be understandable in Spain but neither in other Latin America countries (no ests chingado, pendejo, a cmo es la dejada?, a la antigita) In the same line we may find Spanish from Argentina, Spanish from Peru, Spanish from Chile, Spanish from Cuba, etc. with great differences among them. Besides in each of the countries there a specific dialects coming notably from rural areas.

Spanish Spain Spanish of Spain can also be difficult to determine as regional differences are huge and very common. Castillian Spanish is considered the most correct or the most widely used it is the official for all Spain, the one used in TV and the language of Madrid, its capital. It includes a lot of popular expressions which are not used in Latin America (for example: hombre, macho, tio, ordenador) and is not as influenced by English vocabulary and structures as Latin American Spanish is.

Neutral Spanish Spanish is the common language for Latin America and Spain. However each country and even region uses its own expressions and gives a different meaning to certain words enriching the language. Neutral Spanish is used in general documentation (certificates, marketing, engineering, etc.) in order to guarantee a total understanding. The practice establishes to avoid regionalisms. When it comes to Literary/audiovisual translations where cultural nuances and regionalisms are in fact difficult to avoid the process is to keep it as general as possible.

Latin America Spanish Varieties in the Spanish used in Latin America are huge. Latin America Spanish is understood as a Spanish which is understandable for the whole continent as they share the same use of certain words in most of the countries. Local expressions from particular Latin America countries are not use here. Still the text has a Latin America flavor which can be understood in the whole continent. It is also characterized for having a big influence from EE.UU. English vocabulary and structures. Please note that in Spain people wont understand or approve this use of the language.
