Heavy Duty is just the right name for SWEPCO Heavy Duty Roof Coating because its a product
thats built to withstand heavy duty encounters with the forces of nature. Heart of Texas Asphalt
gives it the fortitude to endure radical changes in temperature known as thermal shock. High Strength
Micro Fibers give the coating the tensile strength to withstand roof expansion and contraction when
thermal shock occurs and the stability to keep it from running when applied on sloping roofs in hot
temperatures. Dia-Seal adds abrasion resistance and toughness, and Blue/Black

The specific market for SWEPCO Roofing Prod-
ucts and Roof Systems is the commercial, indus-
trial and institutional market. Typical customers
include banks, hospitals, exhibition centers, facto-
ries, hotels and government buildings. Actually,
the list is endless because every building has a roof!
Within the commercial, industrial and institutional
market there are two distinct segments. One is
existing buildings and the other is new buildings.
With existing buildings, the objective is to main-
tain and extend the life of the existing roof, if pos-
sible, or if the roof is too badly deteriorated, to
provide a complete new roof. Also, some existing
buildings have concrete roofs which have not been
previously waterproofed and are leaking and re-
quire attention. With new buildings, the idea is to
recommend SWEPCO as the original roof system.
A typical application in the existing building seg-
ment would be a Topcoat Roof System for pre-
serving and prolonging the life
of an existing asphalt roof, or
perhaps a Topcoat Roof System
to protect a metal roof. For new
buildings, a typical application
would be a SWEPCO Built-Up

example, to waterproof a new

type roofing membranes. These membranes can

Southwestern Petroleum Corporation first opened it doors in
Fort Worth, Texas USA in 1933. In the decades since then, the
company has expanded to more than 80 countries. We have
actively marketed in Canada and Europe since the early 1960s
and now have subsidiary companies and manufacturing
plants near Toronto, Canada and Antwerp, Belgium.
The Southwestern Petroleum Product Line, marketed under
the brand name SWEPCO, includes a wide range of products
for the maintenance and protection of industrial, commercial
and institutional property. The largest portion of the SWEPCO
Product Line consists of protective coatings, primers, sealers,
reinforcing membranes and patching materials for mainte-
nance, repair and replacement of commercial, industrial and
institutional roofs. These products are available both individu-
ally for specific roof problems or in fully engineered roofing
systems designed to provide long term service life.
Our roofing products are supplemented with a broad range
of high-performance products designed for maintenance of
floors, walls, metal and pavement.
We believe maintenance of existing property with high
quality materials is more cost effective than neglect and
eventual replacement. Because much of the cost of commer-
cial and industrial maintenance goes to the labor required to
install the products, we also believe it makes good sense to
specify the best products available so maintenance has to be
performed less frequently. These messages are well received in
the marketplace and are one of the reasons for our continuing
growth.

roof construction and reroofing. It consists of a heavy polyester reinforcing mat
sandwiched between two layers of modified asphalt. Bonded with SWEPCO Adhesive #9,
it is the primary reinforcement in several SWEPCO new roof specifications and is also used
as a flashing material. It provides superior strength and flexibility and a sound, stable base
