Invitation
Dear Friend, On behalf of the All India Coordination Committee of Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (AICC RCOG) we are delighted to announce and invite you to the 28th AICC RCOG Annual Conference. This year, it is the proud privilege of Fellows and Members of Northern Zone of AICC RCOG to organize this prestigious event in Delhi from 28 August to 2 September 2013. Keeping up with the theme Bridging the Gap in Womens Healthcare, this conference is dedicated not only to educate and share the latest innovations and updates in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as per RCOG standards, but also to focus on the meaningful application of this knowledge to the extremely divergent needs and challenges of womens healthcare in India. Several renowned speakers from UK and different parts of India will share their expertise and evidence based views to bridge this gap. With the recent trend of super specialization within Obstetrics and Gynaecology, many professionals are now totally confined to only one subspecialty and often unaware of the latest innovations in other areas. In order to bridge this increasing gap amongst super specialists, as well as to update the general OBGY practitioners, the entire scientific program of the main conference is deliberately confined to one hall only - Stein Auditorium of India Habitat Centre. From this single platform, a galaxy of experts from different subspecialties will speak and interact on latest clinical practices and interventions in their respective fields. The meticulously planned scientific program consists of eight pre conference (28, 29 and 30 August) and one post congress (2 September) workshops, orations, keynote addresses, lectures and panel discussions based on case-studies. Each workshop will provide a practical and informal interactive learning. The basic conference registration fee is inclusive of any one workshop and Inauguration ceremony on the evening of 30 August followed by Welcome dinner. More than one workshop on separate days can also be selected by paying extra charges. The abstracts are invited for presentation as oral, poster or video under the twelve separate categories as specified in the brochure. There will be a prize for best presentation in each category. Do not miss this unique opportunity and submit your innovative work, research, audit or example of good practice before the last date (31 July). Apart from an outstanding academic feast, the conference also provides an exciting opportunity to explore the timeless beauty of Delhi and enjoy North Indian delicacies and shopping extravaganza. You may also plan a trip to world famous Taj Mahal in nearby Agra or other tourist places. Please check our website www.aiccrcognzindia.com for regular update on this conference. Both-online and offline registrations (form available for download) are open. Contact detail for assistance in booking your travel, sightseeing tours and accommodation is also available on website. We are sure, this conference will prove valuable to enhance your clinical expertise as well as to initiate new ideas. We look forward to welcoming you in August 2013 in Delhi.

Introduction
Obstetrics is one of the most unpredictable, challenging and high risk speciality. Emergencies are inevitable on labour ward. A joyful relaxed ambience with anticipated normal childbirth can suddenly change into a serious life-threatening crisis. Minutes count and often with very little or no help around, outcome will totally depend on the skills and efficiency of the attending obstetrician in an otherwise highly stressful situation. Labour ward drills are like fire drills to test, improve and maintain an up-to-date knowledge and skills in the management of such scenarios. RCOG and RCM (Royal College of Midwives) UK recommend at least Annual Skill drills for all birth attendants to maintain the standards.
Conveners : Dr Sohani Verma (Sr Consultant Obs & Gynae, Incharge- IVF Unit, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals) drsohaniverma@gmail.com, 9810116623 Dr Asmitha Rathore (Prof Obs & Gynae, MAMC) asmita.rathore@yahoo.com, 9968604345 Co-convener : Dr Chanchal Singh (Consultant - Maternal Fetal Medicine, Indraprastha Apollo Hoapitals) chanchalsngh@yahoo.com, 9899092076
