File Open Dialog Enhancements

The File Open dialog box in the main interface has been updated. Overall, it is styled almost exactly like the updated navigator panel and Browser. In the toolbar at the top of the dialog box, you can browse through a cascading folder name toolbar to navigate folders. You can also click the drop-down arrows to see a list of sub-folders to which you can navigate. In addition, there is a Search field and drop-down menus for various folder viewing and navigating options. The main portion of the Open dialog box is divided into four sections. The upper-left section is labeled Common Folders, and acts as a shortcut to the following: In Session Desktop My Documents Working Directory Network Neighborhood Favorites

In the lower-left section, you can expand or collapse the Folder Tree by clicking the up/down arrow. You can perform shortcuts in the Folder Tree such as New Folder, Delete Folder, and Set Working Directory. The upper-right section provides a list of items (models/folders) within the current folder. Finally, the preview panel can be expanded or collapsed from the bottom-right portion of the dialog box by clicking the up/down arrow in the bottom-right corner of the dialog box.

Parameters Dialog Box Enhancements

Reorder Parameters Single Multiple Parameter dialog box closed. Model saved.

Order is Preserved

There have been some enhancements to the Parameters dialog box. First, you can reorder parameters. To do this, you select a single parameter, or press SHIFT to select multiple parameters. Once selected, you can use the blue up/down icons on the right side of the dialog box to reorder the parameter(s). Second, if the parameter order is adjusted, the system preserves the order when the parameter dialog box is closed, and when the model is saved.

The selection workflow for building one-by-one curve chains has been simplified. To select a one-by-one chain of edges, you: Select the feature containing the edge/curve references. Select the first desired edge/curve. Press SHIFT, and select the first desired edge/curve again. Continue to press SHIFT, and select additional edges/curves to build the one-by-one chain.

In previous versions of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, the system would round, or truncate, repeating decimals, making exact modeling difficult. Now, you can use exact values in relations; the repeating decimal is not rounded or truncated, and is carried out to a maximum of 14 decimal places. This is particularly useful when you pattern or space features using a fraction that results in a repeating decimal, such as 1/3, 1/6, and 1/7. The syntax notation to use this option is = (x/y). In the example on the slide, the hole offset from the left edge of the model is desired to be exactly 1/7 of the total length. In this case, the syntax would be: OFFSET = (1/7) * LENGTH

In the example on the slide, the Boundary Blend tool is started before it is realized that a approximate composite curve is desired for a boundary. Traditionally, you would have to cancel the current tool, create the composite curve, and then restart the dashboard tool. Now, you can create composite curves on-the-fly, or asynchronously, when using other dashboard tools; simply pause the Boundary Blend tool, create the composite curve, then resume the Boundary Blend tool and complete the feature. The composite curve dashboard is placed over the boundary blend dashboard until the on-the-fly composite curve is completed.
