Part 1 description of the work tasks that are your responsibility (continued on the next page)

Delegate name End of course date.... Company. Site name.... Training provider...... A description/labelled sketch of the location(s) In Part One we are providing information about our workplace without which the assessor would have nothing to compare your risk assessment to. Using a sketch is the easiest way to accurately describe your workplace. A picture paints a thousand words. You dont need to be an artist but if it cannot be deciphered there will be no points in it. If the area that you are responsible for is only one part of a larger area you dont need to include the whole of the larger area. You could define the edge of your area with a dotted line for example. Remember that the person marking your assessment probably hasnt seen your workplace so do not presume that they will know anything about it. For example, they wouldnt necessarily know what you do in your workplace nor would they know whether you work inside or outside. You might think that it is obvious but assumption is the mother of all failed projects. To understand your workplace the assessor might also need to know how big it is and how you get in and out of it. Is there a separate means of escape for emergency? A description of the people who work in or visit the area on a regular basis or from time to time and how often theyre there Consider the word description to be key. Providing a simple list will not suffice. You will need to describe the role of the people e.g. production manager or press operative. You will need to include your contractors too. Perhaps you have contractors that come in to maintain your computers or to service machinery or maintain buildings etc. Workplaces would normally receive visitors such as customers or suppliers. These will need to be considered. Do members of the public enter your workplace? If not, do you do something to prohibit them? Perhaps theyre just dont tend to enter and if they did someone would ask them to leave. Whatever the situation you will need to describe it. Dont forget your (potential) trespassers. Out of all these people describe which are there regularly and of those who are not there regularly, then how often.
