I would like to congratulate everyone who took part in this years Science Fair. Our judges were thoroughly impressed with the quality and depth of knowledge demonstrated in this years posters and experiments. I would, furthermore, like to congratulate the students who have been selected to represent Viscount Alexander at the United Counties Science Fair, to be held on Saturday, April 5th at St. Lawrence Secondary School. Last, but not least, thank you to Mrs. Lauzon for organizing the event at our school. Have a peaceful and relaxing March Break! School Council Update: Our next School Council meeting will be held on Thursday, April 10th at 6:00pm in the learning common. All are welcome to attend! Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten registration for September 2014 is now open at all Upper Canada District School Board Elementary Schools. Please contact the school for more information, or you may also complete the on-line registration survey at www.ucdsb.on.ca. We will also be hosting Welcome to Kindergarten evening on Thursday, May 29th, from 6:00-7:30 at the school. During the event, students and their parents/guardians will be able to experience our play-based learning program, connect with community agencies, and ask any questions that they may have. Please be aware that the following documentation is mandatory, before the start of school in the fall: 1) proof of age (e.g. birth or baptismal certificate), 2) immunization record. Senior Kindergarten and Gr. 6 Graduation Photos: On Wednesday, March 26th, Carpe Diem will be at the school to take graduation photos for students in senior kindergarten and grade 6. In order to get the best results, the company has recommended the following attire for students: Girls: white-collared blouse Boys: white-collared shirt and tie Graduation gowns and hats will be supplied by Carpe Diem. Spring Fundraising Campaign: In early April, we will be having our annual spring fundraising campaign. This is our schools largest fundraiser, and in the past, it has supported such school initiatives as technology acquisition (Smartboards, iPads, etc.). Students will need parental permission in order to take part, and participation is voluntary. As usual, there will be great prizes available for those who choose to participate. More information and a permission letter will be sent home after the March Break.
