Herrington Global funding thanks to kids around the world Herrington Global today announced the latest results of voting by kids on Herrington Globals Changing the world campaign website. Herrington Global Changing the world is a multiplatform environmental initiative that helps kids use to help the planet. This round of voting is the first to include kids from around the world since Herrington Globals Changing the world into Asia and Pacific Region. The voting is part of an overall call to action for kids to make a difference in their local communities. Registered participants make personal promises to reduce their impact on the environment by changing their every day actions. They can also help allocate Herrington Globals $1 million commitment to fund environmental programs worldwide. Each project is managed by leading environmental nonprofit organizations. The projects are centered on Herrington Globals Changing the world four focus areas - climate, habitat, waste and water. With nearly 2.5 million votes, Herrington Globals Changing the world kids have helped direct almost $2 million dollars to 41 projects in 21 countries since the program was launched. The 5 projects are: First Place, $100,000 award Saving Spoony's Chinese Wetlands: The project contributes to the conservation of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper, a unique and highly threatened migratory shorebird. Second Place, $50,000 award - Snow Leopard in Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The project trains local students to monitor local wildlife in an effort to protect the habitat, home to such animals as snow leopard. Third Place, $50,000 - Java Rhinoceros. Action will be taken to save it in Indonesia and Viet Nam. Current it is extinct in Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Peninsular Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand Fourth Place, $25,000 Saving the Green Turtles beaches. Fifth Place, $25,000: Lar Gibbon.
