Phil Passen reported to the Board on the progress of the construction. Painting has started in the lower level, the grid work for the ceiling has begun, and wall tile has been installed in the bathrooms. The mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-ins are being worked on in all areas. The elevator installation is going quickly. Drywall has been completed in the remodel and is nearly completed in the addition. The new circulation desk has also been installed. The remaining interior work should be done in the next 30 days. The exterior siding and sidewalks are weather dependent.

News
Not only are we updating the building, were taking this opportunity to reinvent some of the services we offer. For example, starting March 1st, we will be eliminating the Audio/Visual checkout desk and all materials will be checked out at and returned to one Circulation Desk. If you need to renew any item, the circulation staff will be able to do it for you, in person or over the phone. If you need to place a hold or have any other questions, you will be directed to either the Childrens Desk or Adult Information Desk.
If an item cannot be placed on hold, there will be no option listed in the search results.
On the Advanced Search screen, you can now search shelving locations of individual libraries. For example, if your child needs to find a book about Larry Birds life for a school report, you would need to find a biography. If you just do a Basic keyword search for Larry Bird, you will get books about his life, Indiana history, basketball, etc. To make sure you get results just for books about his life that are written for children, you can limit your search to [Item Format: Books] available at [Shelving Location: Childrens Biography Collection]. If you need to find one that is not checked out, dont forget to check the Limit to Available box at the bottom!
