DC ASIAN AMERICAN & PACIFIC ISLANDER (AAPI) DEMOCRATIC CAUCUS MAYORAL FORUM RULES OF THE DAY SATURDAY, MARCH

1, 2014 Meet-the-Candidate Mayoral Forum: In partnership with the DC Latino Caucus, the DC AAPI Democratic Caucus will hold a Meet-the-Candidates Mayoral Forum on March 1, 2014 from 2 pm to 4 pm. 1. Candidate Offices: This forum will be for Mayor of the District of Columbia. 2. Campaigning: Campaigning will be allowed on the outside of the Josephine Butler Center. No campaigning will be permitted inside of the building. No campaign posters, signs, flyers, etc. may be posted on any walls in the building. 3. Straw Poll Vote: In addition to the Meet the Candidate Forum, the DC AAPI Democratic Caucus will conduct a straw poll. 4. Voter Eligibility: Any DC AAPI Democratic Caucus member who RSVPs at http://bit.ly/aapiDCision14 by Friday, February 28, 2014 at 5pm and is a registered Democrat in DC will be eligible to vote in the straw poll. 5. Registration Verification: To ensure proper eligibility, membership will be verified for all individuals seeking to vote. The official DC AAPI Democratic Caucus membership list will be used to resolve all challenges to the eligibility of individuals to participate. 6. Curbside/Assisted Voting: Curbside voting will be available for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Please notify election/curbside workers upon arrival. 7. The Ballot and Ballot Position: The names of all qualified candidates will appear on the ballot in alphabetical order. 8. Write-Ins: For purposes of this Endorsement Vote, write-in votes will not be allowed. 9. Ballot Distribution: Any time between the hours of 3:00pm and 4:30pm, DC AAPI Demcoratic Caucus members can obtain a ballot. 10. Voting: Ballots may be cast at any time between 3:00pm and 4:30pm. Voting closes promptly at 4:30 p.m. All individuals who are in line in the voting line when voting closes will be permitted to vote.

11. The Counting of Votes: Will be conducted by the Co-Chairs of the DC AAPI Democratic Caucus, and will start shortly after voting ends after 4:30 pm. 12. Observers: Each candidate will be permitted to designate one observer to monitor the balloting and tabulations. 13. The Winners: The candidate who receives the majority of the votes will be declared the winner of the straw poll. A majority vote of 51% or more of the DC AAPI Democratic Caucus members voting shall be required. 14. In the event of a Tie: No winner will be declared in the race. 15. Straw Poll Results: The results will be published via a Press Release announcement, posted on the DC AAPI Democratic Caucus Facebook and Twitter, and through our email list serve.
