To enroll in the Saturday Arts Program participants MUST select at least 2 sections* of classes. Classes meet on Saturdays beginning March 8, and ending May 3, 2014 with a Share Day Presentation. The cost for 2 Sections of classes is $150. The cost for 3 Sections of classes is $200. Middle School Class Sections

CLASSES
CREATIVE WRITING Students will learn various methods of composing and will develop their awareness of language as an artistic form. While practicing innovative writing techniques, students will be encouraged to develop creative poetry, fiction & non-fiction. DANCE Introduces students to the origin dance as a style of movement and art form. Techniques will include modern, jazz, tap and hiphop. In addition, students will be introduced to the base elements of developing collaboratively as a group and independently as an exploration of how movement has evolved! PERCUSSION Everyone moves to the beat of their own drum and in our percussion sessions, students will have the opportunity to learn a variety of hand drumming techniques. Focus and inspiration for these classes will be derived from Caribbean and West African drumming practices. PIANO For beginning to advanced students interested in playing the piano! Students will study base techniques of music including melody, rhythm and harmony by learning to read music and playing by ear. THEATER Students will have the opportunity to develop base theater skills as they explore of self-awareness and ensemble development. Character role-play, improvisation, monologue practices and scripted collaborative scene work will be part of this class. VISUAL ARTS Students are invited into an enriching environment in which they may create art from self-expression and observation while being introduce to a variety of materials. Students will be introduced to developing an artists sketchbook, painting, drawing, multimedia sculpture techniques and developing a portfolio. VOICE Learn the joy of developing the voice within! This vocal exploration is for beginning to advanced students interested in a variety of vocal techniques. Practices in this class will focus on rhythmic breathing, sight-reading, melody & harmony, in addition to solo compositions within a performance group.

To enroll in the Saturday Arts Program participants MUST select at least 2 sections of classes. The cost for 2 sections of classes is $150. If you would enjoy enrolling in all 3 sections of classes, the cost is $200. *For example: Section 1: Voice+ Section 2: Theater = $150 -orSection 1: Visual Arts + Section 2: Creative Writing + Section 3: Piano = $200
