This week in Nursery Class we have been learning about colour.

We explored the outside environment and experimented with mixing different colours together to see what would happen, which made for some interesting results just ask us about our findings! We have also been going Frozen crazy over the past couple of weeks and on Monday we decided to transform the home corner into a Frozen theme! We all really enjoyed dressing up as the characters and singing Let it Go in our loudest voices. Press here for more.

Yesterday, Reception Class had a fantastic day out at London Zoo. The trip opened our theme All about Animals for this half-term and has certainly gotten the children very excited and full of curiosity about animals. The sun shone most of the time which allowed us to enjoy the day even more, including a lovely picnic together. We arrived just in time for the Penguin Show at the Penguin Beach, followers by a stroll down to Tiger Territory where we had a very upclose experience of JJ, a beautiful Sumatran tiger, being fed his lunch. This was one of the highlights for lots of the children. Here of just some the other amazing animals we enjoyed meeting; the flea-picking monkeys, the enormous swinging gorillas, the camels and llamas, the gorgeous flamingos and pelicans and the many fascinating reptiles in the reptile house. What a truly wondrous time we had. Press here for much more

During our art lesson yesterday, in Year 1, we looked at how artists create models and small scale sculptures to use on film sets. We looked at some creepy and cute aliens and monsters that have been used in movies and the process used to make the final piece. Our objective was to make a sturdy, self-supporting alien that had an internal structure to help support the body parts. We used toothpicks for bones and tails to help them balance and stand up! In Year 2/3 weve been designing and making our own pop-up space book. The children made moving mechanisms for their page and wrote facts about the planet they had chosen. The children worked extremely hard and the finished pop-up pages look amazing! Press here for more

After a week since half-term, it didnt take long for our children to get back into the swing of some great work and fine behaviour. The focus for this week was a continuation of the last school week so the children who bagged prizes did well with being lovely, thoughtful people. The focus next week is focus! To remain concentrated with an activity or set of instructions for an appropriate amount of time. The Artist of the Week went to Martha in Nursery Class for her beautiful butterfly made from finger painting one half, folding it, and seeing the symmetrical patterns it made. We thought hers was great, so well done to you! The Musician of the Week went to Ewan in Nursery Class who impressed Paul no end with how he is responding to music lessons. Great stuff Ewan! See more in full screen here.

Year 3 Teacher Next Year

Come mid March we will be advertising in the Times Education Supplement for a new Year 3 class teacher. Judging by the response we got last year when appointing David, we are going to be spoilt for choice to find the perfect teacher for our strong Year 2 class as they move up. Once shortlisted, the prospective teachers will take an observed lesson, be interviewed by me and the Directors and Student Voice will also put them through their paces! Watch this space.

Meeting Next Tuesday Reminder

Please remember the meeting we have next Tuesday night (from 7:30 to approx. 9:00). Nick sent you an email this week with more details, so please check your inbox for more information. I look forward to seeing you there
