SESSION UPDATE FEBRUARY 2014

Session met on Tuesday, February 18 at Hudsonville Christian Elementary School. Pastor Steve led by reading from Psalm 133 and elder Bill Grysen opened with prayer. After prayer, Session approved the stated and called meeting minutes for January 2014. Session is working to update the shepherding districts to include elder David Van Dyke. Pastor Mick is regularly traveling and investing time in his family and support of other OPC congregations and will not be assigned to a shepherding district. Session approved spending time on leadership training within the congregation in the upcoming year. Time was spent considering the men God has provided Cedar church who are either in Pastoral ministry or training for this position. A letter was reviewed and approved for use with the congregation related to Pastor Larry Johnsons call. Session would like to encourage the congregation to use the Connection cards to communicate with Session and Pastor Steve. This tool can be used for encouragement, input and information to the Session and there are opportunities at each worship service each Sunday for submittal. The congregations regular use of this tool will also encourage visitors to use this communication tool. A shut-Ins and special needs report was received with additional work to be coordinated with the deacons and other church members. The education committee is reviewing the GCP curriculum scope and sequence as it relates to Cedars educational year for any possible holes or areas to reinforce and will be reporting back to Session with their findings. David Van Dyke has agreed to chair the Missions committee at Cedar. The worship committee will be meeting to review a 6 month preaching calendar and related music/accompaniment planning. Time was given to shepherding matters for the congregation and prayer for the congregation. The Session meeting was adjourned at 9:26 p.m., followed by closing prayer with all session members participating, closing prayer by Pastor Steve Igo. Respectfully Submitted Craig Baker, clerk
