Financial Leaders Internship Program Overview


The Future Investor Clubs of America (FICA) has a long history of providing financial education, e-learning, software, camps, news and workshop services which started in 1997. In addition, FICA provides basic, advance, executive, leadership and international financial training opportunities to students at the high school and collegiate under-graduate level. The Financial Leaders Internship is an annual part or full time program; with up to 30, 60 and or 90 day appointments during summer months. This internship program, meets and yet goes far beyond the Standards/Competencies/Learning Outcomes established by Federal and State Departments of Education for economics, personal finance and financial literacy. Successful completion of this internship will qualify students to receive a FICA Certificate of Completion and provide a competitive advantage during the college or employment application process. Interns will be selected from applicants who are considering (Currently) attending college to study accounting, business, economics, finance, international finance & or marketing. The FICA Financial Leaders Internship program has several educational components that includes supervised, virtual and or independent practical experiences in business development, investing, financial services, fundraising, sponsorship development, sales, marketing, community outreach and financial management. The approximate length of time in each component is as follows: Regional Business and Financial Leadership Training, up to 4 weeks; Local Community Outreach, Sales & Marketing experiences, up to 4 weeks. Local Fundraising and Sponsorship experiences up to 4 weeks. Students will be assigned to participate in local projects. In addition, interns will be required to participate in regional training being held in one of the following cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle or Washington, D.C. Program Mission and Goals


Mission
The mission of the Future Investor Clubs of Americas Financial Leaders Internship training program is designed to develop informed and highly educated students who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to financial service professions. Including but not limited to: Accounting; Angel Investing; Banking; Business Ownership; Commodity and Futures Markets; Finance, Financial Planning; Hedge Fund Management; Insurance; International Finance; Investing; Investment Banking; Real Estate; Private Equity; Stock Brokerage; Securities Exchanges/Trading and Venture Capital funding.

Goals
The Future Investor Clubs of America Internship will: Prepare student graduates to successfully complete the FICA Examination and excel in entry-level financial services positions.

Intern Learning Outcomes


Outcome measures include program retention figures, pass-rate on BFIT (Basic Financial Intelligence Training and Advance Financial Intelligence) AFIT Examinations and responses on graduate and eventually employer surveys. Engender the desire and skills for continuing education and personal growth. Outcome measures include achievement of college education, specialty certifications, and promotions; and membership and volunteer involvement reported on three-year post-completion surveys. Support the development of ethical and moral values in personal and professional life. Outcome measures include discussion of business and financial ethics responses on graduate and employer surveys. 1. Interns will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with business and community leaders; financial services representatives; managers, corporate executives and their peers. 2. Interns will competently apply all areas of the fundamental and technical analysis process and financial investment models. 3. Interns will demonstrate professionalism in all sessions and assigned responsibilities. 4. Interns will integrate the broad aspects of sales and marketing into practice. 5. Interns will demonstrate financial management and Leaders skills as they apply to money, investments and financial services. 6. Interns will apply critical thinking skills in problem identification and data analysis, and in recognizing the implications of business and financial decisions. 2

Program Composition
The Future Investor Clubs of America Financial Leaders Internship provides up to 12 weeks of supervised, virtual and independent practical experiences distributed as the following:

45% Business, Financial Leadership Training & Field Trips 25% Sales, Marketing and Sponsorships 15% Community Outreach 15% Fundamental and Technical Research

Business and Financial Training (BFIT and AFIT)


The Financial Training (BFIT and AFIT) experience occurs in one week segments. During the summer, interns will spend two or more weeks at attending classroom training and participating in strategically designed financial field trips. This first week of BFIT training applications includes Banking, Financial Planning, Investing, Stock Markets, Annuities, Bonds, Mutual Funds and much more. This session has a money management component and financial field trips to help the intern examine the interdependent functions of financial services and fund management in a corporate setting. The second week AFIT experience also takes place during the summer. In addition to strengthening financial skills gained in the first BFIT session, the second experience may include Art of The Trade, Analyzing Bar Charts & Graphs, Stock Trading Patterns, Commodity Markets, Foreign Currency Investments, Bull and Bear Markets, stock Options, Financial Risk and Reward.

Sales and Marketing


The Sales and Marketing experience occurs locally during the summer months; the intern will work in cooperation with FICA Leaders in making presentations to individuals, professionals, small businesses, corporate managers and executives about the benefits of sponsoring Future Investor Clubs of America financial education programs and services for students ages 8-19. Each intern functions as the associate leader of a sales, marketing and Promotions team. Interns participate in planning, sales, production, scheduling, marketing, and monitoring costs, quality assurance, and productivity measures.

Community Outreach
The community experience exposes the intern to a variety of populations and professionals. Interns will experience each of the following: Presentations to Doctors, Lawyers, Educators, Executives and Managers concerning the FICA Camps, e-Learning, events and financial education training programs.

Fundamental and Technical Analysis Education


The Fundamental and Technical Analysis education component is spread throughout the BFIT and AFIT sessions of the internship and includes developing and reviewing financial portfolios for: individuals, corporations and fund managers.

Research
Each intern participates in a financial analytical research project mentored by a faculty member. Research may focus on a variety of investment topics.

Leaders Concentration
The Leadership concentration focuses on the ability to analyze current Leaders issues in financial services, assess transformational Leaders skills, and investment topics. Interns that qualify will be assigned up to 4 weeks of Financial Leaders training being held June-August (See dates at www.ficacamps.com).

Academic Experience
The internship has a strong financial Leaders component. Each session is combined with classroom study, financial field trips, travel, marketing and community outreach.

Financial Field Trips


FICA Financial Leaders each week have the opportunity depending on selected locations to participate in an excellent array of Financial Field Trips to such places as follows: Downtown Business Districts; Accounting Firms, National and Community Banks; Stock Market Brokerages; Angel Investor Networks; Federal Reserve Bank; Investment Banks, Venture Capital Networks; Private Equity Corporations; Hedge & Mutual Fund Corporations; Insurance Corporations; Major Corporate Meetings; and College/University Business Schools. In addition, interns participate in fun activities by visiting entertainment and tourist attractions. 4

Admission Requirements and Process


Future Investor Clubs of America internship prospective students must participate in the preselection process. In the pre-selection process, applicants nationwide will be selected from students that have met the requirements outlined below. Upon completion selected applicants will be notified confirming his/her acceptance status in the program.

FICA Criteria for Selection of Applicants Include:

Must be a Junior or Senior in High School or College student studying Accounting, Business, Communications, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Marketing or Public Relations. A GPA of 3.0 or higher with no grade lower than a B- in conduct if applicable Business Club/Classes, Economics Classes/Financial Club/Classes and or Marketing Course-related work, workshop and/or volunteer experience. Personal, virtual questionnaire or phone interview with a selection committee representative. Must be willing to participate in sales, marketing, fundraising and sponsorships campaigns; to help cover tuition, fees, travel room and board. Each Intern will be provided a letter of acceptance and a sponsorship kit. Students must be willing participate in local projects and be able to travel to the assigned Financial Leaders regional training location within the USA for a minimum of two weeks.
