Religion Communalism is an ideology which was planted by the British government during their colonial rule, but still

after 67 years of freedom we the people of India proudly identifying ourselves as Hindu, Muslims, Sikhs, or Christians. (you can include certain facts : revolution of 1857 scared the britisherrs , cause for the first time hindus & muslims stood together against british. Then britishers tried to drive a wedge btw hindu & muslims, britishers intentionally started depriving muslims of the country & drove them poor. in 1902 morley minto act was introduced which gave communal representation to muslims in legislative assembly which was strongly cricisisedd by the all nationalist thus creating separatist/communal feelings.) When we analyze the economic statistical trends of last 20 years it clearly shows that India has been in a great affluence because of all the big game players of international markets striking into the Indian market making it one of the fastest growing economies of this world. (india 4th in terms of Purchasing parity power, giving high returns on investment with a stable & well governed economic /financial system which withstood the 2008 US sub-prime crisis & consecutive eurozone crisis.) But when we flip the coin and look on the other side, we see the darkness that still prevails in the hearts and minds of many citizens of this country under the shadow of religion and communalism. According to me religion maybe it be any Hindu, Muslin, Sikh, Christian etc. is the mother of communalism, and communalism is like a stigma on humanity which is everyday cultivating terrorist out of innocent and helpless people. (you can say communalism is generally used by separatist forces for political gains or due to religious intolerance. Javed akhtar made very clear distinction btw religion & communalism check out this link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qK8S254AUS8 your understanding of communalism needs a lot of changes , communalism has nothing to do with religion, it is communal who use religion as a tool to further their propaganda. Akhtar is an authority on the subject, see the vid a couple of times to form a more holistic view point.) When we go back to the year 1984, the year of assassination of PM Indira Ghandhi by her two Sikh body guards which turned out to be the reason for the Sikh riots that took place in Delhi. This was the epoch when Sikh community saw their blood all around the streets of Delhi. Congress which was the ruling party during the time was provoking their men for the killing of Sikhs living in Delhi, which means that the death of Indira Gandhi leads to killings of thousands of innocent Sikhs. Is this justified? Does entire community deserved what they got? Does religion help humanity? (religion has a special place in improving the society & it is a reality. it might be better if u emphasize that blind following of religion is bad for democracy in general.)

During the British rule, the British government used a very successful method of ruling a big diverse country like India called divide and rule, and were successful in dividing the people on the bases of religion and community. The tussle of unity among different religious groups is still being fought, and the feud of religious and communal conflicts are still being battled. The same questions arise once again; does religion help humanity? If we imagine India without religions i.e. there is no Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian, there would have been no painful memories of 1984 and 1947. If there is no religion would there not be more humanity because of unity? Would these sick politicians divide the people and their lives on the bases of religion? THEN WHY RELIGION?

(I would suggest that basic theme of article should be extreme form of religion.) A good article is related to the ground realities, at the same time the article pushes the boundary of what exists and gives a vision/broad horizon. Also if you do not include facts to back your claims then it becomes just a story writing. so include more facts, create a more holistic view of the problem & give a vision of the long run. after a couple of revision & some work this article can become amazing.
