Guidelines relating to Project Work (Report 50 marks + Viva-Voce 50 marks) for B.Com.

Part III (Honours) Course: Paper 3.5 HA /HM / HT /HeB The project must have the following:
CHAPTER- I: INTRODUCTION

Here the candidate is expected to introduce the topic. This part covers the following subparts (i) Background of the study: Here the candidate is required to write the theoretical understanding about the topic. For e.g. If a candidate select a topic related to Working Capital Management (WCM) i.e., Working Capital Management (WCM) of Cipla Ltd. then He/ She has to introduce the background of the topic. Theories related to WCM, Types of WC, and Recommendations of various committees regarding working capital financing. (ii) Rationale/ Need / Justification of the study: Here reason behind choosing the present topic as a project. (iii) Review of existing Literature: In this section, a candidate is required to present a brief to find out the research gap. (iv) Objective(s) of the Study: In this section a candidate is expected to provide brief statement(s) regarding the objective of the present study. For e.g. If a candidate select a topic related to Working Capital Management (WCM) of Cipla Ltd. then he/ she needs to write objective(s) as: (a) To examine the liquidity position of the company under study. (b) To analyse the profitability position of the company under study. (c) To analyse the impact of liquidity on profitability for the period under study. The objectives must be precise and to the point. Care should be taken to avoid confusion. (v) Research Methodology: Here the candidate is required to provide a brief idea relating to area, sample size, type of study, tools used for data collections and method of presentation must be clearly mentioned. Candidates must not write about the type/ kind of data, i.e., primary data and secondary data. They just have to write about the type of methodology he/ she has adopted. This part should preferably contain: SAMPLE DESIGN: The study has been carried out by selecting a company namely Cipla Ltd., which is one of the leading companies in the Indian pharmaceutical industries. DATA SOURCE: The data required to complete the study has been collected from the published annual reports of the selected company.

STUDY PERIOD Taking into account the availability of data, we have chosen the study period spanning from 2004 -05 to 2008-09. TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES OF DATA ANALYSIS The data collected from the published annual reports of the selected company for the 5 year period have been suitably re-arranged, classified and tabulated as per requirements of the study. (vi) Limitations of the Study: Here the candidate is required to highlight various limitations of the study. This may be as follows: The study suffers from certain limitations which are stated as follows: The study has been conducted over a very limited period of five years only. The study is based on secondary data. The study is limited to a single company. Hence, it will reflect only a partial view of the overall working capital management in the Indian pharmaceutical industry. The study is based on consolidated financial statements of the selected company, which may leave some grounds of error.

CHAPTER-II: SCENARIO

CHAPTER-IV: CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS In this section, the concluding observations based on the main findings and suggestions are to be provided.

CHAPTER-V: REFERENCES This section will include the list of books and articles which have been used in the project work, and in writing a project report.
