My eportfolio is a collection of major assignments and assessments, based on DSU Department of Education DESERT model standards.

Through my time in the Education Program I have grown as an educator and a person. This portfolio is a sample of some of my major accomplishments in growing as an educator, and provides evidence to the claim: I am a competent, caring, and qualified educator. I am a competent educator as demonstrated by my traits technology lesson. This lesson shows I am able to make accommodations in my lesson planning to meet the needs of my diverse students and to use technology to motivate and engage students in learning. I used SIOP strategies that included vocabulary in the subject content, opportunities for student interaction, and collaborative activities that supported all learners. Another artifact that demonstrates that I am a competent educator is my Praxis scores. According to Praxis I have met the required scores, in all content areas, to show that I have enough content knowledge to educate students in elementary schools. Finally, my ESL Endorsement Final demonstrates that I know how to apply my knowledge of SIOP, differentiation, and theory to situations I would encounter in the classroom. In addition, I am a caring educator as demonstrated by my differentiated body systems lesson. In this lesson, I make modifications and accommodations for a gifted student, ESL students, a student who has trouble seeing, and students who have behavior problems. I differentiated the lesson to meet their needs and help keep them engaged. Another example is my Family and Parent Involvement Plan. To be a caring educator one must not only be involved with the students but he/she must also develop a relationship with the families as well. Some ways I would do this is by writing letters at the beginning

of the year and throughout the year. I would also set up a plan to help them be involved in the classroom during the day and also at home. In addition, I would collaborate with them by keeping in contact with them weekly, through newsletters. A final example is the classroom website I have created. This website has been created as an extra resource for my students. It is a place where they can go to get their weekly spelling and vocabulary lists, print any missing assignments they may have missed, be aware of what homework has been assigned, and also to find out about upcoming events. This is also a great way for parents and families to be aware of what goes on each week and to know what homework is assigned each night. Lastly, I am a qualified educator. This is seen through my good grades throughout the program. It is also supported through my passing all sections of the Praxis. I also show my ability to plan thoughtful and appropriate lessons through my traits lesson and my human body systems lesson. I provide proof of my ability to differentiate in my body systems lesson. I also, show that I am capable of using technology through my traits lesson and my history production. Finally, I demonstrate that I am qualified to teach to ESL students as well as other students through my incorporation of SIOP, which is evident in my SIOP evaluation. Through my incorporation of differentiation, SIOP, and technology as well as my content knowledge and professional growth that has happened during the program I argue that I am a qualified educator. I have been taught and have become a competent, caring, and qualified educator. My eportfolio is merely a small sample of what I am capable of as a teacher. They demonstrate my ability to prepare for teaching but these assessments and assignments

only show a small portion of my ability. My best work happens in the classroom, when I can take all that I have learned and apply it to teaching.
