Five-Step Lesson Plan Subject: Date: Nov 23 PBS or Blooms-Level: Form: Class: Time: 10.10-10.

45am LDO: Pre-requisite Knowledge (i.e. what students must have already mastered in order to be
successful on this new objective): Paragraphs

Objective
What should students be able to do at the end of the lesson? What do you want them to accomplish?

Key Points
What are the definitions and concepts that you will present? How will you guide students to demonstrate mastery over the skill? Why is this objective important?

SWBAT write paragraphs with a clear focus.

What: Topic sentence: First sentence of the paragraph. It introduces the main idea in the paragraph. Supporting details: The details that follow and support the topic sentence. How: (Filling out a graphic organizer) 1. Next to the heading Topic Sentence, write the argument that you will be writing for the paragraph. 2. Under supporting detail, insert sentences that support what you said in the topic sentence. This can come from your experience, statistics, and graphs. 3. Under Closing, write a sentence that summarizes what you said in the paragraph. Why: The ability to write coherent paragraphs is important especially in a larger essay. Students must learn to organize their thoughts so people will be persuaded by what they argued in the paragraph. In college, students will write many essays expressing their opinions on a particular issue.

Vision Setting: Assessment & Student Exemplar

How will you assess whether students mastered the objective? What is an example of the product you want them to produce? How does this assessment align with the big goals and how students will be asked to demonstrate mastery at the end of the term?

Another reason why PMR should be abolished is because students can leave school after PMR. If students can only take SPM, they all have to stay in school longer. Students cannot get a school-leaving certificate without a sijil. Also, when students stay longer in school, they can get the knowledge they need to at least work. One of the biggest problems, people leaving school before SPM, can be solved after PMR is abolished.
