CHARTER OF THE COLLEGE OF RADIOLOGISTS EXAMINATION COMMITTEE


1.0 MANDATE

This committee is constituted by formal promulgation of a duly constituted meeting of the Council of the College of Radiologists. It derives this mandate from this promulgation and requires that the committee remain subject to the authority of the Council. This mandate will cease when a duly constituted meeting of the Council so decides.
2.0 ROLE AND FUNCTIONS

The role of the Examination Committee (hereafter referred to as the Committee) will be to advise the Council on all aspects pertinent to the conduct of the examinations of the College of Radiologists.
2.1 The functions of the Committee will focus on the conduct of examinations and shall comprise: 2.1.1 2.1.2 2.1.3 2.1.4 2.1.5 The development and maintenance of appropriate policy and procedures; The formulation of minimum standards for the evaluation of candidates; The establishment and maintenance of an examiners roll; The arrangement of primers/short courses/updates that aim to assist current and potential examiners in the execution of examinations; The formulation of a debrief after each examination focusing on the successes and challenges experienced with the conduct of the examination and an overall performance of candidates; and The formulation of a brief annual report that can be incorporated into the annual report of the College for Transactions.

PRINCIPLES The following obligatory principles shall underpin the advice, publications and activities of the Committee

Compliance with the Rules and Regulations of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa that regulate the conduct of examinations; The pursuit and advancement of academic excellence in the context of the South African environment shall be the pillar: and All aspects of ethics (utilitarianism, rights and justice) and equity (access, recourse and redress) as they apply to examiners and candidates shall be addressed where relevant. SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES The activities shall fall primarily within the ambit of the role and functions of the Committee, and can include any additional activity that advances the objectives of the College of Radiologists and the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE A duly constituted meeting of the Council shall appoint the Chairperson of the Committee. Up to two non-offices bearing Council members shall volunteer their services on the committee.
