Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH AWARDS PROGRAM has17 Undergraduate Research Awards for *SUMMER 2014 plus an incentive program for ABORIGINAL students 16 consecutive weeks of employment - minimum salary $5,740 + benefits. *Co-op Students may choose to hold this award for the Fall 2014 or Winter 2015 term. Please review the attached documents below and follow the detailed instructions to properly apply for these opportunities! Job Requirements To be ELIGIBLE TO APPLY for an award, you must: be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada; be registered, at the time you apply, in a bachelor's degree program at an eligible university; and have obtained, over the previous years of study, a cumulative average of at least second class (a grade of "B"). To HOLD an award, you must: have completed all the course requirements of at least the first year of university study (or two academic terms) of your bachelor's degree; have been registered in the term immediately before holding the award in a bachelors degree program at an eligible university; not have started a program of graduate studies in the natural sciences or engineering; and

be engaged on a full-time basis in research and development activities in the natural sciences or engineering during tenure of the award; and work under the supervision of a faculty member who holds an active NSERC research grant (e.g. Discovery, CREATE, Strategic, Research Partnerships), either at the time you submit the application or when you hold the award. Application Procedure In Person Aditional Application Information APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Student (a) Contact proposed NSERC Supervisor (refer to Student Awards and Financial Aid web site for NSERC USRA Listing on http://financialaid.lakeheadu.ca/?display=page&pageid=22 (b) Obtain Department Deadline Date for submitting Form 202, Part I and supporting documentation. (c) Complete online: Form 202 Part I (print copy) (d) Forward "Reference # " to your proposed NSERC Supervisor (e) Request the NSERC Supervisor to print a copy of NSERC Form 202 Part II and forward to student's NSERC Department Contact. (f) Print a copy of the Lakehead University 2014 EVALUATION of APPLICANT FORM for NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award. Request a Professor, of the student's choice, to complete the EVALUATION OF APPLICANT FORM and return it to student's NSERC Department Contact by the Department's Deadline Date (varies). (g) Print a copy of Lakehead University Transcript up to and including Fall 2013 marks. (h) Ensure application and all supporting documentation is received by the Department Deadline. Department

(a) Enter departmental contact and deadline to the 2014 NSERC USRA Poster (prior to January 20th). (b) Receives copies of the 2014 NSERC USRA Application Forms 202, Part I and Part II, student transcript, and Evaluation of Applicant Form. (c) Print a copy of the 2014 NSERC USRA Recommendation Form. (d) Rank-orders 2014 NSERC USRA applicants and provides comments on the 2014 NSERC USRA Recommendation Form. (e) Completes and submits the 2014 Lakehead University NSERC USRA Recommendation Form and applicant(s) supporting documentation to the Office of Student Awards and Financial Aid (UC-2024) by the following deadline date: Monday, January 20, 2014.
