BioBio-Activator
Organic eco solutions biologically, naturally
The natural organic environmentally friendly treatment for pit toilets, septic tanks, soak pits, French drains and bucket toilets. Quickly removes the smells and reduces the waste!
2 HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM FIRST TREATMENT: 1 x 100g or 4 x 25g BioBio-Activator treatments must be used. First add at least 100 liters of water (tap, river, borehole or even bath water) to the pit before it is treated. The more water the better. Activate the treatment in 20 liters of clean water (see activating instructions below) and pour it over the exposed waste in the pit. If there is still a smell after 24 hours then it could be the chemicals or the rubbish in the pit which is preventing the treatment from working. Pour another 100 liters of water into the pit and monitor the smell for another 24 hours. If the smell is still there then the pit must be treated with a 25g treatment to fix the problem. With each treatment it is important to add 100 liters of water or more to the pit before adding the activated treatment and add water again 24 hours later if the smell is still there. When the smell has gone then you know that the treatment is now working. FOLLOW-UP OR MAINTENANCE TREATMENTS: 1 X 25g BioBio-Activator treatment must be used every month to keep the smells away and to prevent the human waste from building up. First add 100 liters of water into the pit before pouring in the activated treatment. The users of the toilet should not add anything foreign into the toilet. Baby nappies, sanitary towels, etc. should rather be disposed of elsewhere. Activation: Mix the contents of the packet/s in a bucket with 20 liters ordinary (cold) tap water, or any water from a river, dam or borehole. Make sure that there are no chemicals (bleach or other cleaning solutions) in the bucket before the water is added. Stir frequently and let the mixture stand for 60 minutes. Pour it over as much of the exposed waste as possible. In a septic tank the activated mixture can simply be flushed down the toilet. It is preferable that the exposed waste in the pit or trench is first covered with water as far as possible. In areas where water is scarce, the left-over bath water can also be used to saturate the pit or trench. It is important to remember that the BioBio-Activator will only work where it comes into contact with the waste through the medium of the water.
3 The treatment of multiple toilets on a trench (pit toilets): First treatment: When treating multiple toilets on a trench, each seat (toilet) must be treated as an individual toilet for the best results. For example if there are 6 toilets on a trench, then the first treatment must be 6 x 100g BioBio-Activator treatments. Maintenance: The maintenance treatments will be 1 x 25g BioBio-Activator treatment per toilet per month. The contents of a number of packets can be combined in one bucket of water for activation as long as the trench is sufficiently drenched with water and the activated BioBio-Activator is poured evenly into each toilet. Dry Toilets: There are a few designs of "dry toilets" which are often built in housing complexes or villages, and also in townships. The most common type is probably like the one in the sketch below:
A shallow cement trench is connected to the house into which the waste is flushed. The idea behind the design is that the water will seep out of the trench through a number of slits on the bottom and sides. As more waste comes in it pushes the existing waste towards the back of the trench. During this process the waste is supposed to dry out so that when it reaches the back wall it can then be shoveled out to be transported away or alternately used as compost in the garden. In reality this does not happen and ultimately the waste becomes the breeding ground for flies and other goggas. The waste remains wet because it clogs up the slits through which the water is supposed to seep out of and as a result any attempt to empty the full trench becomes a messy and smelly affair. The end result, unfortunately, is that the smells and the flies remain. Also the trench then immediately starts filling up and the problem starts all over again. BioBio-Activator is the ideal treatment for these toilets. The first noticeable result is that the bad smells will disappear. Secondly, if you lift the cement slab over the trench you will see a drop in the level of the waste within the first week. The BioBio-Activator will degrade the waste very quickly into water and gas. The gas will evaporate and BioBio-Activator will break down the waste causing the blockages so that the water will easily flow out through the slits in the sides and bottom of the trench.
4 If the toilet is treated with BioBio-Activator on a regular basis (once a month) it can continue to be used indefinitely without it filling up again and without the smells returning. What type of toilet system can successfully be treated?: Septic tanks, French drains, soak pits and any form of pit latrine, whether they be VIPs or just crude holes in the ground, and dry toilets can be successfully treated with this product. It works with any open toilet system i.e. where there is provision or facility for the water to soak away into the surrounding soil structure. Toilets that were designed for the human waste to dry out and later be disposed of elsewhere generally do not function according to the design principles (like the dry toilet). Some of these toilets are also designed to separate the urine from the solid waste. These toilets often fail but they can also be successfully treated with BioBio-Activator subject to the addition of sufficient water. Flies: Treatments with BioBio-Activator will take away the smells. When the smell goes then the flies will also go. This can help in reducing the risk of opportunistic infections which is particularly beneficial to people which have HIV Aids, TB and other infectious. Please remember that there is no substitute for clean, sanitary habits! Wash your hands regularly! How does the product work?: When BioBio-Activator is activated it stimulates the existing bacteria in the pit toilet or septic tank to quickly degrade the human waste into water and gas. It also removes the bad smells. The problem occurs when the waste does not degrade into water and gas quickly enough and it starts to clog the bottom and sides of the pit toilet or soak pit/French drain. BioBio-Activator will clear this so that the water can flow out freely. Transport, storage and safety: Because each treatment is light in weight (25g or 100g) and because of the small size it is easy to carry. BioBio-Activator only has to be activated where it is needed so there is no problem to carry it long distances. BioBio-Activator can be stored indefinitely in its dry form while in the sealed packet, as long as it is kept in a relatively cool, dry place. Long storage will not affect the effectiveness of this product at all. BioBio-Activator is safe because it is not a chemical and it is non-toxic, non-poisonous and other than a possible irritation to the eyes (which is treated by flushing with clean water) there are no known safety issues. It is safe for people, animals and crops.
