Platte River Raglan

Designed by Kirsten M. Jensen Gauge: 8 stitches and 9 rows per inch in stockinette using larger needle. Finished Measurements Bust: 34 inches (43 cm) Length to underarm: 15 inches (38 cm) Body length: 19 inches (48 cm) Sleeve length: 13 inches (33 cm) PATTERN NOTES Please read before beginning to knit. An important note about gauge. This pattern uses sport weight yarn on very small needles. In order to achieve the appropriate shaping, body length, and raglan decreases, exact row gauge is essential. If you cannot make gauge, please use Nature Spun fingering weight yarn instead. Seam stitches are incorporated at the body sides and at the raglan decreases. They are always worked as a purl stitch using MC. Increases and decreases are worked on either side of these seam stitches. When working raglan decreases, maintain one stitch of MC on either side of the purled seam stitch for a crisp decrease edge and added visual effect. Work decreases in the two stitches preceding/following this MC stitch.

Platte River combines traditional two-color patterning with a modern shape and contemporary sensibility. Corrugated ribbing at sleeves and body hem add visual interest to the overall pattern. Three-quarter sleeves and a wide neckline bordered only in the main color soften the graphic effect. Knit using sport weight yarn, Platte River is dense and warm, yet light and soft against the skin. This pattern contains only one size, womens 34 (with zero ease), but can easily be sized up or down by adding/subtracting multiples of 16 in the total stitch count (8 stitches each, front and back). YARN, NEEDLES, GAUGE Yarn: 4 skeins each of main color (MC) and contrast color (CC) of Brown Sheep Nature Spun Sport. Sweater shown was knit using Butterfly Blue as MC and Platte River as CC. Needles: one 16 and 24 inch circular needle each in size 2.25 and 2.75; one set of double point needles each in size 2.25 and 2.75
