2014 Pre-season Newsletter

Congratulations to all who contested the Club Championship in 2013 and special congratulations to the Champions and winners of awards in all classes. Upgrading for 2014 As usual, competitors who gained more than one top 10 position in any of our races in the Clubman (C2) class during 2013 will be moved into the Intermediate (C1) class. Also any competitors gaining more than one top 10 position in any of our races in the Intermediate (C1) class will be moved up to the Junior Championship (B) class. Anyone else who knows they would be better suited in a higher class please enter accordingly and give the new guys a chance. Junior (A) class is for anyone without an Expert licence riding in the Expert races. Last year we had a good few more members entering the (A) class and hope this trend will continue. Come on you guys at the top of (B) class, give it a go. Please note that the class has generous prize money paid out to third place for each leg. The results are separated out after the event so even if you are well down the field you could still be leading the (A) class. This is also the way to gain an Expert licence; all the results are sent to the MCF and are taken into account when granting licences. There has been a view expressed that the Club cares more about hosting the big national events than in running the Club series for its' members. It is not generally realised that the Club has to run the big events to make the use of the land financially viable for the Landowner. We can't simply run more events due to planning restrictions. Without the big events we would be looking for a new venue and Skelder would revert to 100% farming. The Whitby Club will be running four rounds of the Club Championship in 2014. To book your place pick one of the options below. ENTRIES 1. Send one entry form for all four events with separate cheques dated for each event. If you are unable to attend any event your cheque for that event can be destroyed if you let us know. No cheques are cashed before the event. 2. Send a separate entry form with a separate cheque before the closing date for each event. 3. Call, text or email details, Number, Name, Town, Machine and Class to Tel: 01723 862043 between 6 PM and 8 PM. or Email: secretary@whitbymotocrossclub. or Text to: 07530061874. (Do not ring this number, the ringtone is turned off). You will be contacted to inform you if the entry has been accepted You need to post the payment and form to arrive at least a week before the event. LATE ENTRIES Late entries may be available during the week before the event, call, email or text details as above and we will reply to let you know if your entry has been accepted. Late entries will be charged at an additional 10. You need to bring a completed form and pay on the day. We know that some competitors may want to ride in two classes, for example the Junior Intermediate (C1) class and in the Veterans class. We will arrange the programme to enable this as far as possible. We will be asking for an additional entry fee of just 10 to ride in two classes. Entry forms and race regulations can be downloaded from www.whitbymotocrossclub.co.uk . Please call, email or text as above to ask for them to be posted out or emailed to you. Entries close one week before the event. After that, if there are any late entries available you will be charged an additional 10. There will be no entry on the day. You must book in before as above. An MCF annual licence application form is available from the Club or from the MCF website. Complete this form and send it off to the MCF. If this is your first full licence application, dont forget to enclose a passport style photograph and name the MCF Club you are a member of when you send it to them. It will not be issued unless you do. You can also apply or renew your MCF licence on-line at the MCF website. Single event (One Day) licences can be purchased at the club office on race day. The Whitby Club will continue to host events at Skelder Hill Farm on what is generally agreed to be the best hard packed track in the North. Many visiting National Experts have said that our Club events are better to ride and better organised than a lot of Nationals. The Prize money and awards are unbeatable and the entry fees are kept as low as possible. Because we have an entry cut-off we are able to produce a proper printed program for each event where your sponsor can get a mention. You also get more time on the track. All this is possible because nobody at this Club is making money from these events. Our prime objective is to run quality events and we enjoy doing it. Any profits we make are put straight back into the Club. A handful of dedicated volunteers put in many hours of unpaid work to set Page 1

out and prepare a track which is exciting to ride and watch whilst still being as safe as we can make it. We do appreciate help from those who live close enough to Whitby and can spare their time. The Tuesday and Thursday evenings and the Saturday afternoon before each event are the main times we need a hand. This year we are going to replace a lot of the fencing as it has got a bit scruffy after 10 years use so we will be working extra hard up to the first Club event. Contact Howard on 01287 651572 if you are able and prepared help. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS Round 1, Sunday Round 2, Sunday Round 3, Sunday Round 4, Sunday
