KRISHNAMURTHI PADHDHATHI DASAVIDA PORUTHAM FOR

MATCHING
HOROSCOPES FOR MARRIAGE.

In matching horoscopes of the Boy and the Girl, for marriage,
traditional Astrologers give more importantance to DASA OR
DASAVIDHA PORUTHAMS. An Astrologer with even elementary
knowledge of the Science of Asrology knows about this and much have
been written and discussed in K. P. Reader No.lV on this subject. Our
Guruji Jyotish Marthand, Jyotish Mannan, Prof. Late K.S.K. during
his life time in his lectures within and outside this Country, has decried
this .method of matching horoscopes for marriage and proved beyond
any doubt that even when there is 100% agreement i.e with all the Ten
(Dasavidha) agreement or poruthams between the charts of the boy
and girl, the couple had not lived happily, did not bring forth any
children at all or gave birth to children with deformity and all sort of
defects, divorce taking place, either of the parties living a life of
misery, illness, incurable diseases, poverty and what not etc., etc.,
Thus the traditional method of matching the horoscopes based on the
principles
of Dasavidha Porutham has not helped in any
manner. No doubt traditional Astrology gives enough scope for
Astrologers to wriggle out of such situations at a later point of
time. Under these circumstances, in this advanced Space Age under
the spell of Computers it is necessary that Astrologers should discard
this old method and approach the subject of matching horoscopes for
marriage on a sound and Scientific basis, which ONLY K.P CAN
PROVIDE.
In this small Endeavour of mine I would like to place before
K.P. Scholars, Students and Readers of K.P. & Astrology magazine,
the method to be followed under K.P. for matching horoscopes so that
the couple can lead a HAPPY, HARMONIOUS AND
1

PROSPEROUS wedded life. In this, I am assuming that the charts of

the Boy and the Girl are prepared accurately following K.P.
principles for erecting charts (including verification of birth
particulars by the RULING PLANETS method of Guruji) before
further proceeding for matching.
First I am giving the details of the K.P.DASAVIDHA
PORUTHAM shortly called K.P.D.P. and later on I will illustrate with
the help of two sets of Charts (Given in the Annexure i one of an old
couple married more than three decades and the other of recently
married young couple, how these K.P.D.P. are to be applied for
matching.
WHAT ARE THE K.P. DASAVIDHA PORUTHAMS (K.P.D.P)
K.P.D.P.No.1
Ascendant Sub Lords in the charts of the Boy and the Girl
should be natural friends or equal and should not be enemies
i.e.
natural enemies. Since this is very elementary in nature I am not
elaborating on this.
K.P.D.P.No.2
Ascendant Sub Lords and the 7th Cusp Sub Lords in the
respective charts of the Boy and .the Girl should be natural friends
or equals not natural enemies. This brings happiness in married life.
K:P.D.P.No.3
The Ascendant Signs of the Boy and| the Girl should be
compatible i.e should be Fire and Fire, Water and Water, Fire and
Air, Water and Earth and Air and Water.
K.P.D.P.No.4
Work out the Aspects under the Western System of Aspects
taking into account the orbs of the Planets, between the Ascendant Sign
Lords of the Boy and the Girl in their respective charts. If they are
favourable it is a sure indication of good harmony between them.
K.P.D.P.No.5
i) Work out the Aspects formed (by taking into account the orb of the
2

respective Planets) between the 7th Cusp Sub Lords of the Boy and the
Girl, in thier respective charts.
ii) See where the 7th Cusp Sub Lord in the Girl's chart is occupying
in her chart. Similarly find out the placement of the 7th Cusp Sub Lord
in the boy's chart and work out the Aspect formed between these two
by taking into accounts the orbs of the respective Planets.
If the aspects thus formed in respect of (i) and (ii) above
are favourable it shows good compatibility, good understanding
between them.
K.P.D.P.No.6
Birth Star Lord of the Boy should occupy a favourable house
i.e. 2,3,5,7,9 or 11 in the Girl's chart and vice versa.
K.P.D.P.N0.7
7th Cusp Sign, Star and Sub Lord of Boy should be the Ruling
Planets of the Girl at the time of birth and similarly the 7th Cusp
Sign, Star and Sub Lords of the Girl should be the Ruling Planets of
the Boy at the time of his birth. The occupant of the 7th in the
respective charts can be taken as an R.P. for this purpose.
K.P.D.P.No.8
The Ruling Planets of the Boy should be the significators for
2,7,11 for the Girl and vice versa.
K.P.D.P.No.9
See whether the 11th Cusp Sub Lords in the chart of the Boy
and the Girl are in any way connected to houses 6,8 and 12 in any
manner in their respective charts. If they are not connected it will
indicate harmony, happiness and pleasurable life.
K.P.D.P.No.-lO
i) At the time of matching, if either is running 'A' Dasa, 'B' Bukthi
and 'C' Anthara and note whether A,B,C are the Ruling Planets at the
time of birth of the other.
3

ii) The Planets deposited in the constellation of the above A,B,C,

Planets will be the Ruling Planets at the time of birth of the
other. Either (i) or (ii) above should be there as per the dictum of
our Guruji and it is a certainty and in no case it will fail.
In order to apply this method with' as much accuracy as
possible and arrive at proper and correct conclusions regarding
matching the charts for marriage, I have evolved the method of
numerical value for each of the above ten(10) K.P.D.Ps. Each will carry
the -maximum marks of 100 and the final tally will be worked out by
totaling the marks and dividing it by 1000 thus arriving at the
percentage of compatibility. This will be more clear to the readers
from examples worked out by me and shown for the charts I have
taken for this purpose. The Charts can be seen in the ANNEXURE.(not
attached)
Now let me take up for matching the first set of Charts 'A'
and 'B' as per the K.P.D.P. principles.
K.P.D.P.No.l
The Ascendant Sub Lords in Charts 'A' and 'B' are both
Mercury. Hence full 100 marks are given.
K.P.D.P.N0.2
The Ascendant Sub Lord and the 7th Cusp Sub Lord in the chart
'A' are Mercury and Venus respectively. We know Mercury and Venus
are good friends. Hence 50 marks given. The ascendant Sub Lord and
7th Cusp Sub Lord in the Chart 'B' is Mercury himself. Hence
another 50 marks. Thus for KPDP No.2 full 100 marks are awarded.
K.P.D.P.N0.3
The Ascendant Sign in Chart 'A' is AIRY and in Chart 'B' is
FIERY.Since both of them are compatible full 100 marks are given.
K.P.D.P.N0.4
The Ascendant Sign Lords in Chart 'A' and 'B' are Mercury and
4

Mars respectively. In Chart 'A' Mercury is not aspecting Mars. But

Mars is Squaring mercury. Similarly
in Chart 'B' there is no aspect
between Mercury and Mars but Mars is squaring Mercury. Therefore
we can give only 50 marks for this.
K.P.D.P.No.5
In chart 'A' the 7th Cusp Sub Lord is Venus and in Chart 'B' the
7th Cusp Sub Lord is Mercury. Chart 'A' - Mercury - 188-57: Venus
224-20 Orbs: Mercury - 7: Venus 7:7+7-2 = 7 Longitudinal difference
between Mercury and Venus = 35-31 + 7(orb) == 42-31 which means
no aspect.
Chart 'B' - Mercury - 266-46: Venus 289-07 Long. Differene: 2221 + 7()orb() = 29-21 Semi-textile - slightly good. Therefore for (i)
we can award 50 marks.
ii) Chart 'A' 7th Cusp Sub Lord Venus Long. 224-28 and in Chart 'B'
7th Cusp Sub Lord Mercury Long. 266-46. Longitudinal difference 4218 + 7(0rb) = 49-18 -No Aspect. Thus we can give the other 50
marks. Therefore for K.P.D.P.No.S total marks work out to 100.
K.P.D.P.No.6
In Chart 'A' the birth star is Mars which is occupying the-6th
house in Chart 'B'. Hence no marks. Birth Star in Chart 'B' is Kethu
which is occupying the 5th house in Chart 'A' favourable house. Hence
we can award 50 marks. Thus for KPDP No.6 the total marks work out
to 50 only.
K.P.D.P.N0.7
Chart 'A'- 7th Cusp Sign, Star and Sub Lords are Jupiter,
Kethu and Venus respectively. The R.Ps in the Chart 'B' are Mercury,
Mars, Venus and Kethu. Since only Kethu and Venus are appearing as
RPs in Chart 'B' we can award mark as follows: 50 divided by 3
and multiplied by 2 i.e. 33 marks.
5

Chart 'B' - 7th Cusp Sign, Star and Sub Lords are Venus,
Jupiter and Mercury.
R.Ps in chart 'A' are Merrcury, Mars, Saturn,
Jupiter. Here also only Jupiter and Mercury are figuring and hence we
can give marks as above i.e 50-3x2 i.e.33. Thus for K.P.D.P.N0.7 the
total marks obtained are 33+33 = 66.
K.P.D.P.No.8
Out of the R.Ps in Chart 'A', Saturn and Jupiter are
signifying 2 and 11 in Chart 'B'. Hence we can award 50 marks. All the
RPs in Chart 'B' are significators for houses 2,7, and 11 .Hence we
can award the other 50 marks. Thus for K.P.d.P.No.8 full.100 marks are
obtained.
K.P.D.P.No.9
11th Cusp Sub Lord in Chart 'A' is Jupiter who is signifying 8
only and not 6 and 12.Similarly the 11th cusp Sub Lord in Chart 'B' is
Venus who is signifying 12 and not 8 and 6. We can award marks as
follows:
50 divided by 3 and / multiplied by 2 = 33 for Chart 'A'
50 divided by 3 and / multiplied by 2 = 33 for Chart 'B'.
Thus for K.P.D.P.N0.9 the total marks obtained work out to 66.
K.P.D.P.No.lO
A little explanation appears appropriate before I start
examining the charts under this. The Couple were married on 8-91965
and I have assumed that they would have consulted a K. P. Astrologer
in the month of June 1965 first week for purpose of working the Dasa
Bhukti and Antharam running in their respective charts.
i) Chart 'A' = Dasa-Jupiter (A)Bhukthi-Moon(B) and AntharamRahu
(C).None of these three Planets is an R.P. in Chart 'B'. Hence no
6

marks.
Chart 'B' - Dasa - Sun (A) - Bhukthi -antara (B) and Antharam - Venus
(C). Out of these only Saturn i.e. (B) is appearing as R.P. Chart 'A'.
Hence we can award marks as 50 divided by 3 and multiplied by 1
i.e. 17 marks.
In Chart 'A' there.is no Planet in Moon star i.e. (B) and only Jupiter
himself in his own star i.e.' (A) .and in (C). Sun and Mercury .One of
these are R.Ps in Chart 'B'. Hence 17 marks.
In Chart 'B' out Sun, Saturn and Venus A,B,C respectively only Saturn
appears in Chart 'A'. Therefore here again we ard marks as 50 / 3
x 1 = 17.
Thus the total marks for KPDP N6.10 is 17+17 =34+17 = 51 only.
Now let us total the marks obtained while comparing the charts A&B
under K.P.D.P principles.

-------------Total :
766+17 = 783
If we divide this 783 by the total marks of 1000 earmarked for
all KPDPs we arrive at a percentage of 78.3 or 78 which is a fairly
good one. I have already indicated earlier that the charts 'A' and 'B'
belong to an old couple married three decades ago, with three
children, own house, vehicular comforts without any major illness to
7

any of them etc., This clearly proves that the method of K.P.D.P. is
indeed the scientific basis for matching of horoscopes. '
Let me now take up the other two charts 'C' and 'D' in the
Annexure for a similar examination for matching under K.P.D.P.
K.P.D.P.IMo.l
The Ascendant Sub Lords in Charts 'C' and Chart 'D' are Jupiter
and Mercury respectively. While for Mercury, Jupiter is equal, for
Jupiter, Mercury is an enemy. Therefore we can award only 50 marks
for this.
K.P.D.P.No.2
The Ascendant Sub Lord and 7th Cusp Sub Lord in Chart 'C' are both
Jupiter. In the same way the Ascendant Sub Lord and 7th Cusp Sub
Lord in Chart 'D' are more Mercury. Therefore we can give full 100
marks for this.
K.P.D.P.No.3
The Ascendant in Chart 'C' is a Fiery Sign, and in Chart 'D'
is in Earthy Sign. Being not compatible no marks can be awarded for
this
K.P.D.P.No.4
Ascendant Sign Lord in Chart 'C' = Jupiter Long.46-1 1
.Ascendant Sign Lord in Chart 'D' == Saturn - Long.323-25, in Chart
'C'. Jupiter and Saturn has an orb of 9 degrees each. Taking into
account the difference between these two longitudes i.e. 82-46(406-11
minus 323-25 = 82-46) and adding the half of 9 + 9 % 2 = 9 degrees the
aspect formed is 82-46+9 = 91-46 i.e Square. Therefore not good. No
marks.
Similarly in Chart 'D' Jupiter Long = 131-08 and that of
Saturn == 343-56. The longitudinal distance between Saturn and Jupiter
is 147-12 and adding the orb of 9 degrees we get 156-12 i.e. there is
no-aspect. Here we can give 50 marks. On the whole for this
K.P.D.P.No.4 the total marks obtained is only 50. ?
8

K.P.D.P.No.5
The 7th Cusp Sub Lord in Chart 'C' is Jupiter and in Chart 'D' it
is mercury. In Chart 'A' the longitudes of these two planets i.e.
Jupiter and Mercury are 46-11 and 37-07 respectively the difference
being 9-04 and adding the orb of 9 + 7 = 16 % 2 ^ 8 we get 17-04 i.e.
Vigintile, a slightly favourable aspect. Therefore we can give 25 full
marks. Similarly in Chart 'D' the" longitudes of Jupiter and Mercury
are 131-08 and 291-17 respectively. While Mercury cannot aspect
Jupiter, Jupiter cannot also aspect Mercury.
We
can
therefore
give
another
25
marks
full.
The 7th Cusp Sub Lord Jupiter's long. is 46-11 in Chart 'C' and the
7th Cusp Sub Lord mercury's longitude is 291-17 in' Chart 'D'.
Between these two longitudes no aspect is formed. Hence full 50 marks
for this. Thus for the whole K.P.D.P.No.5 ? the total marks work out to
25 + 25 + 50, = 100 full marks.
K.P.D.P.No.8
Birth Star Lord in Chart 'C' is Jupiter which occupies the 7th
house in Chart 'B'. Similarly birth star lord in Chart 'D' is Moon j
which is occupying the 7th house in Chart 'C'. Therefore full 100 marks
can be awarded for this.
