THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

I want to thank everyone who came to the congregational meeting. The food and fellowship were enjoyed. Again I want to remind everyone that a new elective will be offered in the fellowship hall beginning March 9th as a follow-up to our Great Commission sermon series. The goal of this class will be to help you become more comfortable sharing your faith. We hope that whether you are currently in a Sunday School class or not, that you will take advantage of this opportunity. I will lead this class and it is a 5-6 week commitment. I want to thank Josh and Michelle for providing a fantastic Valentine dinner. It was a great meal for a great price. I am sure I speak for all who attended in saying Well done. I can hardly wait for Elevate to come and share with us in worship on February 23rd. Their vocal and instrumental talent will touch your heart. It is always good seeing young people use their gifts for the Lord. I am thankful while they train for fulltime ministry that churches like ours can help strengthen them by affording them opportunities to use their gifts. Allow me to say thanks to those who are providing for their housing on Saturday night the 22nd. We currently have need for 1 boy and 1 girl to be housed. Please contact me if you can help. Let me leave you today with this Scripture from the Amplified Bible: For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and wellbalanced mind and discipline and self-control (2 Tim 1:7). Let us claim and prove this passage to the world as we boldly live for Jesus. May God bless your life, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

A PERSONAL NOTE: These are the times that try mens souls. So said Thomas Paine on December 23, 1776. He was speaking of the political situation of our emerging nation. Thomas Paine would not be noted as a believer but I think we can use his words for our time. I want to commend all of you who have braved the terrible weather, these past weeks, and been present in worship (morning and evening). It has been a trying time! SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: Our focus, this week (2/16) will be on Hosea: The Suffering Husband (Hosea 6:1; 14:1-2). Next week we will look at Micah: Reasonable Religion (Micah 6:8). In coming weeks, we will be examining the lives and prophetic ministries of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Jonah, Zechariah and Malachi. Why not join us at 6:00 pm, on Sunday evenings, for this series of studies? MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: Plans are to resume these studies in late March. Watch for announcements! FUTURE EVENT: Heres another reminder about Senior Saints In The Smokies. The date is May 26-30, 2014. This is the 30th year for this great event conducted on the Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) campus and it is to be a very special celebration. It is really intended for those aged 55 and up. (We, already, have 8 committed to attending!) Registration forms are available. If you need forms or have questions, contact me. (We do use our vans for travel.) FINAL THOUGHT: Happiness cannot be measured by ones wealth. A man with 8 billion dollars may not be a bit happier than a man with 7 billion.

We had a young guest in the Early Elementary Sunday School class last Sunday. She asked for a Bible and was given one. She then wrote this letter: Dear God, I love you so much and I always will and if you get this note you know I love you so much. I hope you have a good day Lord and I always will. ~ Your friend, Chloe Mark 10:14 ~ Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

OUR PURPOSE

WE EXIST TO
Exalt Gods Greatness; Evangelize Gods Work Equip Gods People Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ
