INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE II
Purpose Statement:
The job of Instructional Aide II is done for the purpose/s of assisting in the supervision, testing, and instruction of students; relieving teachers of clerical tasks; assisting students in a variety of educational settings. Incumbents in this classification provide direct academic support to students and teachers which directly supports learning. This job reports to Principal or Designee

Essential Functions
Administers and grades subject area exams for the purpose of assisting teacher in evaluating students progress and
interpreting results.

Assists students on study or special projects for the purpose of providing a method to support and/or reinforce classroom
objectives.

Confers with teachers for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students' progress and/or implementing students'
objectives.

Implements instructional programs and lesson plans, under the supervision of the teacher, for the purpose of assisting the
teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.

Maintains students' files/records (e.g. testing data, attendance records, class register, etc.) for the purpose of
documenting activities and/or providing reliable information.

Monitors individual students or groups of students in classroom, library, on field trips, etc. for the purpose of providing a
safe and positive learning environment.

Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. answering phones, ordering and distributing supplies, scheduling,
copying, coordinating student awards programs, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing necessary records/materials.

Responds to emergency situations (e.g. ill or injured student, fights, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of
resolving immediate safety concerns.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities


SKILLS are required to perform multiple, non-technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; administering tests; operating standard office equipment including applicable software; operating audio visual equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: tutorial procedures and practices; concepts of grammar and punctuation; age appropriate activities including learning activities in a special classroom; and health and safety standards.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing priorities; communicating with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the Organizations services.

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 35% walking, and 15% standing. The job is performed under some hazardous conditions. Experience Education Job related experience is required. High School diploma or equivalent.
