    Ifyouhavechosenaproblemortopic,keepanotebooktorecordyouractivitiesrelatedtothe report'sresearchmethods,observations,meetingsattended.Preparationisanongoing process. TheExecutiveSummarycapturestheessenceoftheentireprojectinafewlines(not exceeding15).Itwillincludethecompanybackground,theproblem/issueaddressed,thework doneandrecommendationsinbrief.Itwillalsobrieflytouchontheconclusionsand recommendations(ifany). TheIntroductiondefinesthetopicofthereportsothatthereaderispreparedforthetextthat

    follows.Hereyoucanoutlinethecompanyand/ordepartmentforwhichyouworked,andyou cansummarizetheworkyouperformedatthecompany.Settingthebackgroundisimportant becausethefacultymemberevaluatingthereportmaynotbefamiliarwiththedetailed operationsofyouremployer.Thisprefatorysectionallowsyoutointroduceyourprojectand linkittothemissionorfunctionofyouremployer.Typicallyitconsistsofadescriptionofthe divisionorworkgroupinwhichyouwereemployed,setagainstthebackgroundofthelarger organizationofwhichitisapart,aconcisestatementofthefunctionoftheorganization,current dataaboutthenumberofpeopleemployedetc.Thissectioncanalsoincludeanorganizational chartindicatinghowyourworkgroupfitsintothelargerorganization. Detailsofinternshipwillformthemainpartofyourreport.Hereyouwillgetintodepthabout theproject/studyundertakenbyyou.Youshouldoutlinethehistoryorobjectivesleadingupto theprojectorstudydetailedinthereport.Thepurposeofthispartistoarguewhythespecific projectorthestudyoutlinedinthereportisofinterest.Theobjectiveorgoalofthestudy shouldbecrisplystated.Thispartofthereportshouldanswerthequestion,``Whywasthe specificworkorstudydone?''.Keepthisbrief,butremembertooutlinethebackgroundand scope,andgiveaclearstatementofobjectivesofthestudy.Askaquestionthatyouwilltry toanswerinthisstudy.Afterreadingthispart,yourreadershouldbepreparedfortherestof thereportthatfollows.     Themajorfocusofthereportshouldbeonacriticaldiscussionandanalysisofthespecific internshiprelatedtopic.Thedatacollectedmustbetabulated,presentedandanalyzed.Use oftoolssuchasMSExcel,SPSSetcwillbehelpful.Basedontheanalysis,youcanform conclusionsandmakerecommendations.

    Incasethereisnoprimarydatacollection,youcanusesecondarydatafromcompany sourcesorelsewheretostudytheproblemANDspecifythesourceofinformation. Insomecases,datacollectionmightseemdifficultorirrelevant.Forinstance,acompany mightaskyoutoworkwiththerecruitmentteamandmakerecommendationsforimproving theprocesseffectiveness.Eveninsuchinstances,pastdataregardingrecruitmentcanbe usedinthestudyandsuitablerecommendationsmade. Conclusionsarederivedfromresearchoutlinedinthemainbodyanddonotintroducenew material.Theymaybepresentedinasequenceoftwoorthreesentenceparagraphs.The conclusionsshouldspecificallyanswerthequestionsraisedintheintroductionorconclude howthegoalsorobjectivesstatedintheintroductionhavebeenmet.Recommendations areproposedplansofactionforthefuture.Theyaresuggestionsfollowinglogicallyfromthe conclusions.Rememberthatconclusionsdealwiththepresent,recommendationswiththe future.
