VANITY

Vanity is the excessive in ones own attractiveness or abilities to others (Stephen laMarche). The term vanity originates from the Latin word vanities meaning emptiness, untruthfulness, futility, foolishness and empty pride. Purpose of the study is to determine if individual levels of vanity are related to consumer evaluations of advertisement. There are three specific advertisement appeals (i.e., appearance, sex, and achievement), attitudes towards the ads and thoughts by elicited by the advertisement were measured and compared across high and low vanity groups. In many religions vanity, in its modern sense, is considered a form of self idolatry, in which one rejects God for sake of ones own image, and thereby becomes divorced from the graces of God. It is also feeling of genuine love for your physical forms are all healthy, normal behaviours. Doing any point of obsession, feeling compelled to impose your own beauty or importance on others, sapping your personal resources for the sake of further efforts to either beautify or glorify your own image. Vanity also termed as the excessive pride in single appearance or accomplishment. Philosophy of vanity may refer to a broader sense of egoism and pride.

SHOPAHOLISM
Shopaholism is a psychological disease that is caused by the new image and idea because of media influence. The world of advertising became very influential and that is why shopping became so popular. This type of illness is very controversial in today life, because on one hand some say it cannot be categorized as an illness, it is just a bad habit of those who can allow it themselves. Shopaholism is a choice to replace emotional satisfaction with material objects. Shopaholism is driven by the same kind of motivation that fuels alcoholism or drug use. A woman feels bad - anxious, lonely, worthless, angry or lacking love. So she goes out and buys things - not only to give herself love, but also to prove to the world at large that she's 'worth it'. Plastic money or the credit card is the main cause for worsening this mental condition. Strained relationships caused by this mental disorder can break homes. The cause os such addictive behavior is not known, but according to some psychiatrists, such action triggered by a need to feel special. The shopaholics try to fill in a void in their life with objects. The act of shopping gives the compulsive shopper a high due to the release of certain feel good hormones. Shopaholics have been all over public media these days. The former NY state health commissioner Antonia Novella's excessive spending habit, the chart topping confessions of a shopaholic book by Sophie kinsella, and now a soon to be released film of the same name, shopaholics have all eyes turned their way. This means they better look good in Gucci justifying yet another trip to Saks, it also means that scientists are focusing on the problem of shopaholism as a technical disease. Without recognized doctor support is there hope for shopaholics? While there is not (yet) a magic pill that will cure sufferers of their afflictions, there are support networks, self help books and

professional therapists that will help you deal with your disorder. And as with all addictions, the first step is recognizing that you have a problem.
