Strategies

In the 2010 - 2015 period FPT IS aims to:

1. Being the primary contractor for major IT projects
FPT IS has been the primary contractor for a number of major projects in Vietnam, which we will use as references to bid on contracts for future projects. The companys involvement in these projects provides a solid foundation for its globalization beginning in 2012. We will focus on integration solutions for banking, telecommunications, public finance and government agencies, as well as customized ERP and BI solutions for banks and IT infrastructure. FPT IS aims to be the primary contractor for US$50-150 million projects in 20122020.

3. Becoming an ERP resources center in Vietnam and the world

As the leading ERP provider in Vietnam, FPT IS has been implementing complex ERP projects for a wide range of sectors including banking, oil and gas, telecommunications, manufacturing, and trade, and is now reaching out to markets in Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, America and Australia. At present, we have a staff of nearly 500 experts specializing in ERP solutions developed by the worlds leading vendors such as SAP, Oracle, and People Soft. FPT IS ITC (FPT IS International Training Center) has organized nine ERP training courses and, so far, more than 150 staff members have graduated with a high command of their profession and foreign languages. We expect to have 1000 ERP experts on our staff by 2015, ready to meet the demands of ERP projects worth 3 20 million US dollars.

5. Globalizing ERP, ITO, BPO, software products and services

Our strategy for the Southeast Asia region is to become partners in systems integration with local companies and provide them with application solutions. From 2010, we will bid directly in foreign countries based on previous application solutions we have provided; our experience and resources involved in successful projects in Vietnam; and our strategic partnerships with leading international ICT vendors. We also intend to open new sales channels with our partners and customers in Vietnam.

7. Providing electronic services for the mass market

In 2009-2012, FPT IS aims to provide electronic services for transactions between the government and the public, the government and enterprises, and enterprises and their customers with our absolute advantage of solutions and customers over the years.

2. Developing core software solutions for economic sectors

Many core software solutions developed by FPT IS have been implemented for customers who are key members of Vietnams economy. Internationally-registered FPT IS core application solutions have been also deployed for customers in other countries. FPT IS will continue developing high quality human resources to provide customers support for their IT systems, and focusing on core application solutions to develop solutions worth more than US$10 million for telecommunications, banking, finance, public finance, national security and defense.

4. Becoming an IT outsourcing center for Vietnam and the world

FPT IS will continue providing human resources for systems integration services which brought many important projects with clients including the National Australia Bank (NAB), Daimler, and the Singapore Exchange (SGX). We aim to increase the proportion of IT service in our total revenue to 10% in 2015 and to 20% in 2020 by developing

Typical projects

n Implementing personal income tax management infrastructure and IT for the General Department of

Taxation under the Vietnam Ministry of Finance FPT IS was the prime contractor for the project to Apply information technology (IT) for managing the personal income tax (PIT) system for the General Department of Taxation (GDT) in Vietnam with two bid packages worth about US$30 million. According to the contract, FPT IS will deploy all the software applications and hardware (including the Unix server system, storage, network and security systems), and provide services to help the GDTs 7000 users at 800 locations in 63 provinces and cities, and 770 tax departments across the country handle 15 million taxpayers. FPT IS completed the all-in turnkey project for the entire PIT GDT management system, demonstrating the companys capability to build extensive, large scale international IT systems. The personal income tax (PIT) management system is the first centralized processing system in the General Department of Taxation and the largest such system under the Vietnamese Government cloud, as well as the largest SAP-based tax management system in the world. It includes a main center and a disaster prevention center, developed based on technology from leading global firms such as IBM, SAP, Oracle, Cisco, Checkpoint and F5. The most prominent component is the strongest and most advanced power server system in the world, including 46 UNIX servers which are IBM Power Server. The entire system is highly complex, with multiple technologies integrated into a unified system.

n Providing managed services and support for Daimler Chrysler (Asia Pacific region) FPT IS provides managed services and 24x7 support for Daimler Chryslers system of 600 servers throughout the Asia-Pacific region. FPT IS has set up a specialized service center for Daimler Chrysler in Hanoi with the latest high-tech equipment. The center is connected to Daimlers headquarters in Singapore through leased line technology that allows support services to be supplied remotely from Hanoi. The services offered by FPT IS have helped its customers significantly reduce costs through efficient rotation and use of labor, providing high quality technical resources 24/7, and ensuring absolute data security.

Typical projects

n Implementing SAP ERP for a tobacco giant of Japan

FPT IS is deploying the SAP ERP human resources management system for a famous tobacco firm of Japan, a customer of Hitachi Limted. This is a milestone project for FPT IS in terms of scope, implementation experience and applying new technology, in addition to being the largest scale SAP ERP software project in Vietnam, which affirms FPT ISs capacity to implement major projects for large companies in the region. The partner of Hitachi entrusted FPT IS with the enormous task of developing a human resources management system for one of the most influential groups in the Japanese economy. With this project, FPT IS has established a solid reputation in the SAP ERP market at home and abroad, especially in Japan.

n A Japanese IT group supply system maintenance and call center

In addition to being a strategic partner in development, roll-out and AMO, FPT IS maintains the SAP system for the biggest customer of the Japanese IT firm and acts as a call center working directly with end users to provide solutions and support the systems operations. This Japanese group is currently completing construction on the production system security room at FPT IS. This marks an important turning point in the relationship between the two parties, demonstrating the customers trust in the quality of FPT ISs work and staff. The group also says it would like to expand and work with FPT IS in other fields and projects in the future.

n Providing application maintenance services

for Brenntag (Germany), Tyco (USA), TIS, Hitachi Joho, Japan Remote Consulting (Japan), and FreeWill (Thailand) among others. Tyco is the worlds leading manufacturer and distributor of regulating and controlling equipment for a variety of industries.

n The TABMIS project: treasury and budget management information systems for the Ministry of Finance

of Vietnam

This project has been implemented in the Central State Treasury and the Treasury offices of provinces and cities across the nation. It involves four divisions of the Ministry of Finance, 700 provincial offices of finance and 40 ministerial institutes, and can be accessed by 5200 to 15,000 end-users. As the sub-contractor for IBM, FPT IS is responsible for project management and change management; designing and creating professional procedures; building, setting and customizing the application system; systems testing, user training, and data conversion; implementing the pilot and large scale projects; and providing hardware, warranties and support. The TABMIS project was implemented as a turnkey project using available commercial software from Oracle (the Oracle E-Business Suite) and hardware infrastructure by IBM (the IBM p Seri server) for deployment at central, provincial, city and district level tax offices across the country. The system is also connected to other Government ministries and departments to promote the collaborative management and efficient utilization of Government resources.

n Prime contractor for the Petrolimex SAP ERP system

project
The Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) ERP project, which began in December 2009, is the biggest ever project in the history of Vietnamese IT, serving 1500 users at 111 sites of 41 Petrolimex member units across Vietnam.

The project developed and applied consistent ERP professional procedures for the group, from the groups own departments and those of member companies, including branches, enterprises, and warehouses. The SAP ERP system will also help Petrolimex modernize its administration processes, predict demand, and standardize petroleum import procedures. This will, in turn, reduce company costs and help decrease fuel prices, which will benefit consumers in the long term. n Developing e-customs for the General Department

of Customs
The project to build and deploy an electronic customs clearance system for the Vietnam General Department of Customs (GDC) facilitates the sectors core professional operations and creates favorable conditions for national import and export companies. The project was implemented in four stages over eight years to meet the increasing demand for efficient customs clearance processing using the eCustoms software developed by FPT IS. The system now serves more than 3000 regular GDC customers, including 34 customs departments and more than 300 sub-departments nationwide.

The successful implementation of the eCustoms solution for the GDC ensures customs procedures comply with World Customs Organization (WCO) regulations. The eCustoms system provides modern, efficient IT infrastructure for import-export enterprises and sharpens the nations competitive edge. This large scale project also demonstrates FPT ISs critical role in providing IT infrastructure for the Government and private enterprises to promote social and economic development.

n FPT IS implements information system for Vietinbank
FPT IS was chosen to create a system for managing information related to internal finances, human resources, payroll, general banking finances, administration and reporting for the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank). The solutions deployed by FPT IS is integrated and packaged as processes, functions and management tools specifically designed for the banking sector. The project was implemented at the Vietinbank head office and 144 of its branches across the country. In the highly competitive environment of the banking and finance sector, speed is essential in introducing new products to meet market demands. Systems such as ERP that support administration and decision making facilitates Vietinbanks management and help it provide more convenient services and new products for its customers.

n Providing Application Maintenance Service (AMS)

Providing Application Maintenance Service (AMS) for one of largest companies in the Gulf region. Headquartered in Kuwait, the company operates in over 40 countries around the world, has 12000 staff members and gets multi-billion US dollars per year from more than 30 businesses.

n Providing maintenance services for the server system and ATM network of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank)

This project provides services for one of the largest banks in Vietnam.

n Providing telecommunications software and services for the Beeline network in Vietnam

n Centralized Treasury Issuance and Management System (CMO) for the State Bank of Vietnam
This is the first project in Vietnam to build a centralized treasury management system for the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) to manage and monitor cash flow and predict demand. The system helps predict the demand for cash in the country based on historical factors and influences such as GDP, CPI, season, etc. and allows the SBV to efficiently plan for the minting and printing of cash to meet the demand. It can also determine the reserve supply of all units in local areas based on the anticipated demand, flow and optimal reserve of cash needed. In addition to confirming the actual situation, banks can also plan the balance of money between the central to local banks to ensure efficient cash flow in localities. The system also manages and monitors the import, export and inventory of money in accordance with national codes, materials and series, and monitors properties such as gold bullion, jewelry, cheques, and valuable documents by type and series.

The Beeline network in Vietnam is operated by GTEL Mobile. FPT IS signed a contract to install and provide maintenance for the software and hardware in their telecommunications system. Applications developed for Beeline by FPT IS include the management systems for centralized and mobile-based sales, general sales and marketing, automatic card selling system, billing control, and centralized e-payments.

n Providing telecommunications devices and services for GTel Mobile FPT IS is the prime contractor of providing devices, installation services and optimizing GTel network in the North and the Central of Vietnam. With this project, FPT IS became one of the two largest partners of providing telecom devices and services for GTel. In combination with Alcatel Lucent, FPT IS install 416 BTS (Base transceiver stations) and 616 microwave pairs. n Record consultancy project to create Government email system The contract for consulting on building an email system for the Vietnamese Government based on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model is FPT ISs biggest consulting contract so far. The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) is the projects main investor and FPT IS is the prime contractor with KPMG as a subcontractor. This contract indicates the credibility, competence and experience of FPT IS in deploying high-tech projects and confirms the soundness of FPT ISs direction and strategy for promoting its consultancy services.

n National Australian Bank (NAB)

FPT IS implemented and converted the customers email system from Lotus Notes to Exchange. We currently provide 3500 users at NAB with support services around the clock every day.

n Installing the server system for the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank)

This is the largest system ever deployed in a bank in Vietnam. FPT IS is also responsible for installing applications for the banks servers.

1. Software applications
For more than twenty years, FPT IS has been developing mission-critical software for governmental agencies and enterprises that meets international standards for telecommunications, banking - finance, public finance, governmental agencies, healthcare, education and enterprises.

Banking - Finance
FPT IS is the only company in Vietnam providing general solutions for the domestic capital market including systems for stock and bond trading, transaction monitoring, registration, depository and settlement. The company also provides all banking business applications such as core banking, switching, card management, credit scoring, and risk management systems. FPT ISs comprehensive products and solutions such as the Smartbank core banking system, FPT.UTS core software for securities companies, FPT.SmartConnect software for connecting banks with securities companies, and the FPT.SBRS State Bank reporting system, have been effectively serving banks, securities companies and financial organizations.

Telecommunications
FPT IS has developed and provided telecom software solutions including the FPT.BCCS billing and customer care system and FPT. ePOS multi-service centralized marketing and sales management system. These products are being used by a network of 30 to 50 million subscribers of major telecom providers in Vietnam and throughout Southeast Asia. FPT.BCCS, FPT. ePOS and a number of our other software solutions are being applied successfully by MobiFone, Vinaphone, Viettel, EVN Telecom, VietnamMobile, and Gtel Beeline in Vietnam; Sotelco Beeline Cambodia and Metfone Cambodia; and Unitel and Milicom Tigo in Laos. In addition to specialized IT products, FPT IS has also developed signal channel controls and core network components for mobile networks such as missed call alerts (MCA), voice SMS, welcome SMS for roaming mobile subscribers, and USSD gateways based on signaling system No. 7 (SS7) technology.

Public Finance
In public finance, FPT IS is a long-term committed partner of the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Taxation, the General Department of Vietnam Customs and the State Treasury. The tax management system designed and developed by FPT IS is the core software of the Vietnamese taxation system. We have also provided a number of software solutions to serve the public finance sector in Vietnam, and our electronic customs procedure management system has been implemented at the General Department of Vietnam Customs since 2005.

Others
FPT IS has provided software applications for the Vietnamese Government and the agencies for National Security and Defense, as well as for enterprises and healthcare and social utilities. FPT.eGOV software, which is currently being used in 22 provinces and cities, has made Ho Chi Minh City the nations leader in using government ICT applications. FPT.eHospital software for hospital management is being used by more than 50 hospitals and clinics, and FPT.iHRP software is now helping human resources and payroll managers in more than 100 enterprises. Two software programs developed by FPT IS were awarded prestigious silver and gold prizes in the Asean ICT Awards 2012, raising Vietnams reputation for IT in the Southeast Asia region. A variety of our other software has been successfully applied in the criminal management system for the Supreme Peoples Procuracy of Vietnam and for criminal case statistics and management in the Peoples Supreme Court of Vietnam.

Past projects include deploying the Cluster OPS MC/ServiceGuard HP9000 system for Agribank and the Vietnam State Treasury; the Cluster pSeries for Vietcombank ATMs, and IBM Cluster HACMP pSeries inter-banking SWIFT payment software for many other banks across Vietnam.

3. IT services
FPT IS provides after-sale computing services, authorized warranty and maintenance services, computing and telecommunications equipments, managed services, data centers, network infrastructures, cloud computing, data storage and back up, ITO, and system security. In mid-2010, FPT IS opened TELEHOUSE Vietnam, a joint venture with KDDI and ITX of Japan. As the joint ventures major shareholder, we will provide international standard data center services in Vietnam and throughout the region. KDDI is the second largest telecom group in Japan, and is among the worlds leading providers of data center services with a global network of data centers. Eighteen months after it introduced its digital signature certificate service, FPT IS had gained more than 100,000 customers and dominated this high potential market in 2012. FPT.eCustoms software allows import-export enterprises to file their customs declarations online, which creates commercial advantages and reduces time and costs. Our tax management system is the core software for Vietnams taxation system. It was created in 1998 and has undergone continuous upgrades over the years. The system employs state-of-the-art technologies such as ORACLE Database, ORACLE Form, Websphere Application Server, and Websphere MQ. To keep pace with the changes in VAT and corporate tax laws and other taxes and duties, FPT IS has updated the system to support the General Department of Taxation and tax workers in sixty three provinces and cities across the nation. For over ten years, FPT IS has also developed the information system for the General Department of Vietnam Customs which covers most of its essential professional activities.

Geographic Information System (GIS)

FPT IS now distributes GIS products from leading companies such as ESRI, Hitachi Soft, and General Electric (GE), including ArcGIS, ArcView, MapObject, MapInfo, GeoMation, AutoCAD, Microstation, and Small World. n Integration solutions
FPT IS has held the number one position in Vietnam for integration solutions for many years; our most important ongoing project is applying information technology to manage personal income tax (the PIT project) for the General Department of Taxation of the Ministry of Finance. FPT IS is the primary contractor for this project and Accenture, SAP Consulting, and Ernst & Young are the subcontractors.

The PIT project employs SAP tax and revenue management solutions and, once fully implemented, will bring about significant changes in tax management in Vietnam. The integration solution provided by FPT IS will be able to manage 15 million registered taxpayers; process tax declarations and vouchers; settle the tax accounts for millions of taxpayers each year; and ensure compliance with the laws. This is the first time a project has introduced e-services that provide support to organizations and individuals to facilitate their compliance with the governments tax policies.

GIS-BI is the combination of two essential technologies that helps businesses and organizations manage and analyze information to optimize profits and investments. The system is easy to integrate and facilitates the analysis of information to support effective decision-making and improve overall operational efficiency.
