Irish AranKnitting
Irish Aran Cabled Scarf
This class is step one to achieving your goal of knitting Irish Aran sweaters. Well begin the scarf by following row by row directions. Then, when you are comfortable with the basic pattern, Debbie will give you the opportunity to knit the Irish way. Debbie learned this method from Rosaleen Hegarty who manages a group of production knitters in Ireland. This method teaches you to see the flow of your stitches freeing you from row by row directions. Once you learn this method, youll be ready to tackle full sweater projects. Youll also find yourself applying the lessons learned to all your knitting projects. Saturday 1 to 3 pm Jan 25, Feb 1, 8 $40 plus supplies Teacher: Debbie
Knitters who have completed the Irish Aran crew are ready for the lumber. Thats the Irish term for cardigan. Youve done your preparation work step by step in Debbies scarf, hat, and crew classes and will be able to concentrate on the new challenges of perfect pockets and flawless button bands. SweaterProjects
Carries Wrap
Sally Mellville created this design at the behest of her daughter who saw a similar sweater worn by Carrie of Sex in the City fame. It is a cocoon shape with an elliptical hem. This sweater has been flattering on everyone who has tried it on. The fit principle is that the garment is fitted in the shoulder area, slightly shaped in the midriff area, and more generous in the hip area. Its done in a bulky yarn which makes it a quick knit. The shaping details keep the knitting interesting. Our first version is done in Blackthorn by Classic Elite. Other great yarns for this project will be super soft Kodiak by Berroco. You can build your own tweed by holding together 2 contrasting strands of Cascade 220. Sprout by Classic Elite would also make a great cotton version of this wearable design. Monday 1 pm OR 7 pm Jan 27, Feb 3, 10, 17, 24 $60 plus supplies Teacher: Paula
Merle
Merle is a top down raglan cardigan from Norah Gaughans Volume 13. The front opening is trimmed by a band of Norahs signature cables. It is done in Berroco Elements, a lightwight and airy yarn. Due to the unusual structure of Elements, the color pools in the recesses of the cables giving a very rich and dramatic look to the panels. It would be equally lovely in Blackstone Tweed. Wednesday 1 to 3 pm Jan 29, Feb 5, 12, 19, 26 $60 plus supplies Teacher: Susan
Einstein Coat
This design by Sally Melville is suitable for beginning knitters, but experienced knitters may enjoy it as well. It is a roomy design executed in the knit stitch only with minimal sewing and finishing. Your teachers extensive experience with this design will insure you a genuinely wearable, stylish coat. Youll work with Kate on an independent study basis, meeting with her when you are ready for your next step. Independent Study $60 plus supplies Teacher: Kate

Trapeze Sweater
Brooke Nico is a prolific lace designer. We are especially enjoying her Trapeze Sweater that appeared in Knitters magazine last fall. This top down raglan swing shape is a formula that flatters most women. The simple lace creates a fluid fabric that will remind you of Eileen Fisher. Our first version is done in Koigu. Firefly by Classic Elite and Silky Wool by Elsbeth Lavold are also great choices for this piece. We are eagerly awaiting the January arrival of Bella Lino, a new linen and rayon blend by Classic Elite, to begin yet another version of this great sweater. Wed love to help you with your Trapeze during any of our open knitting times.
Classic Elite Yarns will be sending us two new colorways of Liberty Wool Print each month, January through June. Well hold a ball of each new color for you as it arrives. Youll crochet a granny square from each ball. Come June, you will have 12 completed squares. Well meet to crochet our 12 squares together and make a border to finish our throw. January through June $10 plus supplies
