One session will be all you need to get a happy start on this extended triangle scarf. Debbie will make sure that you are comfortable with the shaping and beadwork. The beads will indeed look like droplets of rain clinging to the edge of your scarf. Youll meet again after a couple of weeks to learn the blocking process needed to bring out the beauty of this piece. You are welcome to use our blocking supplies to block your scarf. Thursday 7 to 9 pm Feb 27 and Mar 20 $25 plus supplies Teacher: Debbie

Pinna Pompon Scarf

A quirky color combination gives this crescent shaped shawl / scarf from Classic Elite its signature look. Four colors of Chesapeake are worked in garter stitch pin stripes. Youll enjoy knitting the mini tassels when you learn knitted cast on and modified conventional bind off. The last row will be a bobble bind off adding a touch of whimsy to this design that will look great with denim. Tuesday 3 pm OR 7 pm Jan 28, Feb 11, 25 $40 plus supplies Teacher: Paula

Kirstin Lace Shawl

Heidi has been happily knitting her way through the designs in Alpine Forest, a booklet by Amy Loberg for Classic Elite Yarns. All the

pieces are done in Fresco, an exceptionally soft sport weight yarn. Shes eager to help you make your own Kirsten shawl. This piece features two simple lace patterns and a fun variation on the triangular shawl shape with two miters instead of one. This makes the back square instead of pointed and allows the shawl to sit comfortably on the shoulders. Wednesday 7 to 9 pm Jan 22, 29, Feb 5 $40 plus supplies Teacher: Heidi

Irish AranKnitting
Irish Aran Cabled Scarf
This class is step one to achieving your goal of knitting Irish Aran sweaters. Well begin the scarf by following row by row directions. Then, when you are comfortable with the basic pattern, Debbie will give you the opportunity to knit the Irish way. Debbie learned this method from Rosaleen Hegarty who manages a group of production knitters in Ireland. This method teaches you to see the flow of your stitches freeing you from row by row directions. Once you learn this method, youll be ready to tackle full sweater projects. Youll also find yourself applying the lessons learned to all your knitting projects. Saturday 1 to 3 pm Jan 25, Feb 1, 8 $40 plus supplies Teacher: Debbie

SweaterProjects
Carries Wrap
Sally Mellville created this design at the behest of her daughter who saw a similar sweater worn by Carrie of Sex in the City fame. It is a cocoon shape with an elliptical hem. This sweater has been flattering on everyone who has tried it on. The fit principle is that the garment is fitted in the shoulder area, slightly shaped in the midriff area, and more generous in the hip area. Its done in a bulky yarn which makes it a quick knit. The shaping details keep the knitting interesting. Our first version is done in Blackthorn by Classic Elite. Other great yarns for this project will be super soft Kodiak by Berroco. You can build your own tweed by holding together 2 contrasting strands of Cascade 220. Sprout by Classic Elite would also make a great cotton version of this wearable design. Monday 1 pm OR 7 pm Jan 27, Feb 3, 10, 17, 24 $60 plus supplies Teacher: Paula

Merle
Merle is a top down raglan cardigan from Norah Gaughans Volume 13. The front opening is trimmed by a band of Norahs signature cables. It is done in Berroco Elements, a lightwight and airy yarn. Due to the unusual structure of Elements, the color pools in the recesses of the cables giving a very rich and dramatic look to the panels. It would be equally lovely in Blackstone Tweed. Wednesday 1 to 3 pm Jan 29, Feb 5, 12, 19, 26 $60 plus supplies Teacher: Susan

Einstein Coat
This design by Sally Melville is suitable for beginning knitters, but experienced knitters may enjoy it as well. It is a roomy design executed in the knit stitch only with minimal sewing and finishing. Your teachers extensive experience with this design will insure you a genuinely wearable, stylish coat. Youll work with Kate on an independent study basis, meeting with her when you are ready for your next step. Independent Study $60 plus supplies Teacher: Kate

Trapeze Sweater
Brooke Nico is a prolific lace designer. We are especially enjoying her Trapeze Sweater that appeared in Knitters magazine last fall. This top down raglan swing shape is a formula that flatters most women. The simple lace creates a fluid fabric that will remind you of Eileen Fisher. Our first version is done in Koigu. Firefly by Classic Elite and Silky Wool by Elsbeth Lavold are also great choices for this piece. We are eagerly awaiting the January arrival of Bella Lino, a new linen and rayon blend by Classic Elite, to begin yet another version of this great sweater. Wed love to help you with your Trapeze during any of our open knitting times.

Zebra Felted Tote

Susan Brobst has designed a fabulous learn to knit Fair Isle piece. Its a felted tote in an animal print pattern. The secret to becoming good at this type of knitting is to practice, practice, practice. The felting process will camouflage the unevenness that is typical for beginning Fair Isle knitters. There will be no need to correct mistakes in following the chart because the zebra stripes are very forgiving. There is also no reason that your zebra tote cant be in two bright contrasting colors of your choice instead of the familiar black and white. There will be some homework before the first class. Saturday 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Feb 22, Mar 1, 8 $30 plus supplies Teacher: Susan
