UNC-Chapel Hill Employer Recommendation Form Masters in Nursing Advanced Practitioner Program by Hope Meadows, RN, BSN for

Ashleigh Angelette, RN, BSN A. Please answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper: 1. How long and in what capacity have you known the applicant? I have known the applicant for over seven months now. She applied for a position with Novant last summer and since has been one of our strongest nurses on the team. She quickly moved up the ranks from Staff RN to Charge Nurse (within a month of being hired) to New Staff Preceptor (within 3 months). 2. What is your judgment of the applicants capabilities and suitability for pursuing graduate education in the above program? I believe that Miss Angelette will make an extraordinary student. She excels as learning - is always signing up for extra certification classes and interested in continuing education classes, although she does not need the credits. She genuinely enjoys learning, as well as teaching. She has always been open with management at Novant about her goals and aspirations towards pursuing nurse practitioner school. I have complete confidence that she will excel in the program. 3. What is the evaluation of the applicants capabilities and suitability for subsequent practice in an advanced practice role? Identify areas such as work performance, workload management abilities, leadership ability and personal characteristics. She understands the aspects of nursing and healthcare unlike most of the employees on the unit. She is knowledgable and continues to strive for more. Miss Angelette goes above and beyond for her patient and has the ability to manage an entire team as well as take on an extremely acute patient load. In her short seven months working here, I have received over 5 handwritten letters from patients, as well as families, wanting to thank me for having her as a part of the staff because she provided the best care they couldve ever hoped for. She picks up overtime frequently, has had one absence (due to being hospitalized for dehydration) in seven months, and is always willing to stay later or come in earlier if needed. She is one of the most dependable and reliable employees on the unit. I believe these characteristics will follow her into her advanced practitioner role and I believe Chapel Hill would be very lucky to have her as student and some day, an alumnae.
